While awakened consciences are wounded by the horrific effects of war in Gaza, while homes lie in ruins and millions have been displaced, while many world leaders and organizations are seeking ways to prevent further damage, Iranian regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei expresses joy at the escalation of war and the massacre of Palestinian women and children.
In a recent statement, the German Solidarity Committee for a Free Iran emphasized this reality and wrote, “The Iranian regime is the only side benefiting from the conflict in Gaza. The mullahs use the conflict to keep the region unstable so that it can be used for the ideology of the Iranian regime.”
After the 2022 uprising, Khamenei tried to solidify his regime’s hold on power by expanding the scope of repression and hostage-taking. But he did not manage to control the explosive conditions of the society. Therefore, more than ever, he benefits from the crisis and war-mongering in the region to run away from his own crises.
Regarding other instances of the regime’s opportunism, the German Solidarity Committee for a Free Iran, wrote, “[The regime] uses the conflict to portray the protest movement in Iran as ‘agents of Israel’ and ‘foreign-controlled.’ This tactic is well-established and, along with nuclear weapons blackmail, the hostage-taking of foreign citizens, and the suppression of the Iranian people, is part of the core repertoire of the clerical regime, which clings to power more desperately in the face of increasing uprisings in Iran.”
Another important aspect of the statement by the German Solidarity Committee for a Free Iran is the regime’s exploitation of the West’s policy of appeasement towards the warmongering and terrorist activities of the mullahs. Referring to this issue, the statement mentions: “Teheran continues to rely on a passive and hesitant approach towards the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in Western countries.
“Governments, with various excuses, still do not fully include the Guards on terrorist lists. This attitude encourages the regime to continue setting the region on fire… The DSFI calls on the German government to take the initiative in listing the IRGC as a terrorist organization by the EU in view of the war in the Middle East.”
Finally, the German Committee, composed of prominent figures and members of the parliament of this country, addresses the issue of a “solution” and the prospect of achieving peace in the region in their comprehensive statement. They write, “The only way to achieve peace in the region is the overthrow of the Iranian regime through its legitimate resistance, which has a clear vision for the future in Mrs. Maryam Rajavi’s 10-point program.
“The months-long popular uprising in 2022 and the continued protests, including in Zahedan, show the world that an organized resistance with determined resistance units is indeed capable of threatening the existence of this regime at its foundations.”
