Iran regime change rally in Paris calls for opposition recognition

Paris, Feb. 8, 2019 – Iranians from across the globe rallied in Paris on Friday calling for a free Iran and seeking regime change by the Iranian people and their organized opposition, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).

The rally took place as a few days remain to the 40th anniversary of the 1979 Revolution which saw the ouster of the Shah regime and the rise of mullahs to power in Iran.

Iranian opposition President Maryam Rajavi delivered the keynote speech at the even, as the rally also featured a slate of international dignitaries, mainly from France.

“After 40 years, the dictatorship is about to be overthrown,” said Jean-François Legaret, the mayor of the 8th arrondissement of Paris, France. “This regime is torturing people every day. The regime is not capable to provide the needs of its people. This is an illegitimate regime. When a regime is illegitimate it has to be overthrown.”

Legaret reminded the audience that the Iranian regime’s authorities and diplomats are directly involved in terrorist plots in Europe.

“The Iranian Resistance is ready to support and meet the needs of the Iranian people and give them democracy and hope. Let’s support the Iranian Resistance. The people of Iran have a rich history. Long live the Iranian Resistance,” Legaret said.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi – World should recognize Iranian Resistance

“Every Iranian longs for a republic, for democracy, for separation of religion and state, and for the overthrow of the mullahs’ rule. The Iranian nation sacrificed 120,000 of her children but did not give in. She never surrendered and the uprisings and revolts continued. And this is an uprising until victory,” said Iranian opposition President Maryam Rajavi, head of the NCRI.

“The people of Iran have started a new phase in their battle to bring down the mullahs’ theocratic rule. They expect the international community to respect their struggle and recognize their goal of liberating Iran and rid the world from the mullahs’ evil rule,” she continued.

In recalling how the mullahs took advantage of the West’s appeasement approach toward their regime, Rajavi emphasized how Western governments played a role in protecting the regime especially in the past two decades.

“Their appeasement policy gave it many opportunities to survive, by blocking the road to change in Iran through suppressing, blacklisting and constraining the Iranian Resistance… These crises could be definitely ended by recognizing the right of the Iranian people’s Resistance to topple the mullahs’ theocracy. This is the heart of the solution to the issue of Iran.”

“Adopt a strong policy vis-a-vis Iran’s clerical regime and prevent their access to missile programs and any form of arms and equipment,” Rajavi explained, reiterating the necessity to blacklist the Iranian regime’s Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS) and the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) by the U.S. and European Union.

“The Iranian authorities are celebrating the anniversary of 40 years of revolution. They’ve used the economy of Iran for war and corruption,” said Gilbert Mitterand, President of the Fondation France Libertés – Danielle-Mitterrand Foundation

“The Iranian regime is continuing executions. 40 years of torturing and people who want better lives. We’re here to support regime change in Iran and the alternative to the mullahs’ power,” he added.

“This alternative exists. It has to be supported. Hail to a free and democratic Iran,” Gilbert added, emphasizing on the necessity for the international community to recognize the NCRI.

“I would like to offer my hope and support for Mr. Massoud Rajavi, leader of the Iranian Resistance. The people who overthrew the dictatorship of Shah are also going to overthrow the mullahs,” said former Algerian Prime Minister Sid Ahmed Ghozali.

“This is a time of hope and, of course, of perils. The government of Iran is about to be toppled, and naturally it will become very dangerous. Our European friends must know that the terrorist threat of the mullahs will be doubled, just like a wounded animal becomes more dangerous,” he warned.

“The government has no answer to the demands of the Iranian people. I urge our European friends, do not abandon vigilance vis-a-vis the Iranian government,” Ghozali added in his look into the future.

François Colcombet – You provide hope for Iran

“Resistance Units today are the evolution of all the struggles of the Iranian people in the past century,” said NCRI Secretary Mahnaz Salimian.

“The streets of Iran are the battleground between freedom fighters and the dictators ruling Iran. Under the leadership of Massoud Rajavi, the Iranian people did not give in to the dictatorship of the mullahs. And of course, they paid the ultimate price with more than 120,000 martyrs, killed by the Iranian regime,” she added in a look at the 40 year struggle against the mullahs’ regime.

“With the slogans of ‘Death to Khamenei’ in the streets of Iran, this revolution continues. We are here to echo the cries of the people of Iran. Hail to the workers, teachers, truckers, students and everyone who are chanting in the streets ‘Supreme Leader, your end has come,’” Salimian add in reference to the Iranian people’s ongoing struggle gaining major momentum against the regime.

“The Iranian regime has the world record in executions. The Iranian government has cracked down on protests by workers. That’s why syndicates in France are supporting their movement,” said Gerard Lauton, representative of French Teachers’ Syndicate.

“Iran is ruled by a terrible dictatorship that supports Bashar al-Assad. It is developing ballistic missiles. It is a great threat. We would like to extend our solidarity and support for the people of Iran and the Iranian resistance. We have a common dream, which is to have a free Iran.”

Alejo Vidal-Quadras – EU must stop appeasing Iran’s regime

“In the past four decades, the people of Iran have suffered a lot under the rule of the dictator mullahs. But the Iranian people have not submitted to the Iranian regime, and you are proof of that,” said former European Parliament Vice-President Alejo Vidal-Quadras.

“Last year, the people of Iran were chanting, ‘conservatives, moderates, the game is over.’ This year, we’ve seen the resistance units spread the message of hope and resistance across Iran,” said the President of the international committee “In Search of Justice.”

The Iranian regime is resorting to terrorism to try to eliminate the leaders and members of the Iranian Resistance.

“In the past year, several Iranian diplomats have been arrested and expelled from European countries because of their involvement in terrorist activities,” Vidal-Quadras explained as he reviewed Tehran’s recent terror record.

“The Iranian regime is serious in saying the movement led by Mrs. Rajavi is a real threat to its rule. The Iranian regime has escalated its terrorist activities, its support of terrorist groups in the Middle East and its development of ballistic missiles,” the ISJ President warned.

The European Union must once and for all put an end to its appeasement policy and support the Iranian Resistance by blacklisting the entire MOIS and IRGC.

“I’m very hopeful that we will soon see the end of the mullahs’ regime,” he finalized.

“The Iranian regime has been committing crimes not only against the people of Iran but against the people of the entire Middle East region for 40 years,” said George Sabra, former president of the Syrian National Council.

“This is a day of revenge by all the people who have been martyred by the Iranian regime, and a day to support the Iranian resistance. This is a rage against the Iranian government that has turned the region into a battlefield through its terrorist politics,” he added.

“The regime is now exporting its terrorism to Europe, to here in Paris,” Sabra warned, while emphasizing freedom is coming.

“Freedom is for the people. The terrorist regime of Iran is also a source of support for the terrorist regime of Bashar al-Assad and other terrorist groups. Freedom for the people of Iran and Syria!” he concluded.

“We are here to support the rights and the voices of all the people of Iran who have risen for their rights. The workers, the farmers who demand their rights to waters, the women who are fighting sexual discrimination, and all the people who have continued the uprisings in the past 13 months,” said Mehdi Sameh, head of the Organization of Iranian People’s Fedai Guerrillas.

The uprising of the Iranian people has entered a new phase and it is promising a hopeful horizon, Sameh explained.

“The terrorism of the Iranian regime will not be contained through negotiations. The only solution is the establishment of freedom in Iran,” he added.

“The EU has to sanction the Iranian government. We have to say to Mrs. Mogherini, don’t continue your relations with the Iranian regime,” said former French Mayor Jean-Pierre Brard. Brard also called on his government to cut all diplomatic relations with the Iranian regime because of the terrorist threat it poses. “France must call back its ambassador from Iran. That will convey the right message to the Iranian people,” Brard said.

“The mullahs have deprived the people of Iran from their basic rights and have killed thousands of people in Kurdistan. These crimes continue today,” said Ali Bahrami of the Organization of Iranian Kurdistan Struggle.

The crimes of the mullahs have not remained limited within Iran’s borders.

“They have expanded a wave of terror in various countries. The last plot they had was a bombing attempt against the gathering of the Iranian Resistance,” he added.

“Giving concessions to this regime will only encourage it to spread its terrorism in the world. We demand the international community to stand firm against the Iranian regime,” Bahrami explained.
