MEK’s network inside Iran boosts activities across country

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, January 23, 2021—The Iranian opposition network inside Iran organized anti-regime campaigns across the country targeting the regime’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei.

The Iranian Resistance Units, the internal network of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), organized activities in cities such as Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz, Mashhad, Ahvaz, Karaj, Shahroud, Meshgin Shahr, and Fariman.

They bravely took to graffiti and installed handwritten slogans on the walls that read, “Down with Khamenei, hail to freedom” and “Rise up to overthrow the mullahs’ regime.”

They also installed huge posters and images of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi and the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) Maryam Rajavi in different cities.

These activities, while facing the intensified repression imposed by the regime, echoes the Iranian people’s burning desire for change.

In recent days, many regime officials have acknowledged the country’s disastrous economic situation and the explosive state of the society. Therefore, these activities aim to break the atmosphere of repression and fear.

The Resistance Units played an important role in leading and organizing major protests in 2018 and 2019. In recent years, the creation and expansion of Resistance Units have sent the message that the only way to overthrow the mullahs, is within Iran by the Iranian people and their organized resistance.

In tandem with the activities of the Resistance Units, rebellious youths across Iran have been targeting regime centers in different cities. In the last two days, the rebellious and brave youths targeted seven Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) Basij bases. These acts reflect the public hatred toward the Basij, the much-hated paramilitary force of the regime. The main role of the Basij is to preserve the mullahs’ rule at any cost, through repressive measures against protests and demonstrations. The Basij played a prominent role in quelling the November 2019 protests, in which security forces killed over 1,500 protesters in the span of a few days.

In Khorramabad, the defiant youth torched a branch of Khomeini Relief Foundation, responsible for looting and plundering Iranian people’s wealth. These institutions are affiliated to the supreme leader and are the regime’s main organs for funding the export of terrorism and proxy groups in the region and repressive domestic institutions such as Basij and morality police.

According to regime officials, 60 percent of the country’s economy is under the control of Khamenei and IRGC-affiliated institutions that don’t report to anyone. These institutions swallow a huge portion of the government budget, sometimes rivaling and exceeding those of key ministries.

Also in Tehran, a banner of Qassem Soleimani former commander of the terrorist Quds Force was burned. This shows the failure of the regime’s propaganda campaign in portraying the terror master as a national hero.
