Iranian regime agents attack PMOI/MEK supporter in Berlin

Reported by PMOI/MEK

Feb. 7, 2019 – “An Iranian dissident in Berlin told German police that he was attacked by three men who called him by name and threatened him in Persian before beating him and stamping on him,” Reuters reported on Monday.

Reuters further reported that if the attackers are found to be linked to the Iranian regime, the incident will further strain already-tenuous relations between Tehran and European Union.

The assaulted person, 47-year-old Kourosh Shahna, is a former merchant from Tehran’s Bazar who has been living in Germany for four years. The attackers fled the scene after a German woman accidentally arrived.

The attackers threatened and insulted Shahna while beating him and warned that if he continues to inform Iranians about an upcoming event in Warsaw, Poland, they will kill him. On February 13-14, ministers from several countries will gather in Warsaw for a conference on Middle East. One of the main themes of the conference will be the threats posed by the Iranian regime to global peace and security.

“Just as we have put the remains of your laptop on your bed, we can put your own remains on your bed too,” the attackers told Shahna, according to an interview he did with INTV, the news channel of the Iranian resistance.

“They kicked and punched me in the head and back while I was on the ground,” Shahna said. While assaulting Shahna, the attackers called him “monafiq,” the Persian word for “hypocrite,” a term the Iranian regime uses to refer to MEK members.

Shahna filed a complaint to the German authorities, and the case is now being investigated by the German federal police.

The Iranian regime is increasingly afraid of the activities of PMOI/MEK supporters abroad and has intensified its terrorist and spying activities against Iranian dissidents in the past few years. In June, French and Belgian authorities foiled a bombing plot against the grand gathering of the Iranian resistance, in which an Iranian diplomat was directly involved. Albanian authorities stopped a similar plot in March, and subsequently expelled two Iranian diplomats from their country.

The EU recently imposed sanctions on the Iranian regime because of its terrorist activities on European soil against Iranian dissidents.
