Iran: Mullahs furious over Maryam Rajavi, PMOI/MEK “Resistance Units”

Analysis by PMOI/MEK

Iran, March  7, 2019 – State-TV in Iran broadcast an interview with a regime insider on March 5 expressing his outrage over the French National Assembly inviting Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President of the Iranian opposition National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) to speak at their event. Mrs. Rajavi specifically discussed how the PMOI/MEK has launched a vast network of “Resistance Units” across Iran.

“The leader of the [PMOI/MEK] delivered a speech last week at the French National Assembly, specifically saying during the past year we have established Resistance Units in Iran. Pay close attention. When she says Resistance Units, meaning they are officially saying we are leading an overthrow movement and creating instability across the country. This is France, a country where the [PMOI/MEK] have held large rallies and marches during the past two months… In my opinion, proper diplomatic measures are needed in response to these aggressive actions and the enmity we are witnessing,” he said.

PMOI/MEK Resistance Units are increasing their activities in cities throughout the country.

Members of Resistance Unit 655 in Tehran set fire to the entrance of a Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Basij base. This was in response to a call issued by the PMOI/MEK for an escalation of anti-regime protests to mark the upcoming “Fire Festival,” celebrated on the last Tuesday night of the Iranian calendar. The Iranians annual Fire Festival will be celebrated on March 19 this year.

Members of Resistance Unit 444 in Urmia, northwest Iran, set fire to a large image of regime founder Ruhollah Khomeini and current Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei while chanting, “We answer fire with fire.”

The Fars news agency, known to be affiliated directly to the notorious IRGC, published an article Wednesday morning reflecting the mullahs’ growing concerns about the country’s young generation leaning more and more towards the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). The piece literally warns that people should not be deceived by “the PMOI/MEK’s mediums on the internet!”

“The measures carried out by the PMOI/MEK’s mediums on social media indicates that most of their criteria and the provocative methods are designed to influence the younger generation… Usually the youth under the age of 20, due to their inexperience, are easily influenced and begin undergoing training by the enemy’s elements…,” the piece reads in part.

“In the past, the enemy was forced to come inside the country to establish contact… Today, however, the internet and social media are allowing the enemy to establish contact with social media users on their mobile phones and personal computers. As a result, the enemy’s mediums can easily use deceitful methods to establish direct contact with mainly the younger and lesser informed users,” the Fars piece continues.

“There are cases when a young individual, after establishing contact with enemy elements… resorts to criminal activities tantamount to measures against national security…”
