On June 26, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) Resistance Units in Zahedan resumed their weekly anti-regime activities, spreading the message of the Iranian Resistance across the city. The activists held placards in public places featuring messages of the Iranian Resistance.
These brave acts of defiance occurred despite the regime being in a state of high alert a desperate attempt to prevent a new popular revolt following the death of its supreme leader.
A central theme of the Zahedan activities was the total rejection of any form of tyranny, encapsulated in the popular slogan, “Neither Shah nor mullahs.” The activists displayed messages from Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi, emphasizing that the “fundamental principle of ‘Neither Shah nor mullahs’ means the rejection of any kind of dictatorship and dependency,” and that the “political shops of both the Shah and the mullahs—which sell nothing but dictatorship and dependency—must be permanently shut down and dismantled from their very foundations.”

Furthermore, the Resistance Units highlighted messages from Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, stating that “real change in Iran demands a force of change capable of fighting under maximum oppression, working hand in hand with the popular uprisings to dismantle the IRGC.”
They also carried placards emphasizing that the path to freedom is not through “foreign war,” “spontaneous collapse,” or “fake and bot-driven alternatives.” The latter is a direct reference to the fabricated alternative centered on the remnants of the former monarchical dictatorship, who only seek to return to a fascist past alongside the Shah’s notorious secret service, SAVAK.

The regime, now functioning under Khamenei’s son, remains completely devoid of any capacity for reform. Following the nationwide uprising last January, the ruling system stands at the brink of overthrow and has never been as vulnerable as it is today. During those protests, the Resistance Units carried out 630 operations against centers of the Revolutionary Guards, the Basij, and other regime institutions in defense of unarmed demonstrators.
Terrified of this organized resistance, the regime attempts to hide its weakness behind the noise of war. As the Zahedan placards noted, “War is the shield of this regime against popular uprisings, while peace and a ceasefire are like ‘poison’ to it.” In a desperate bid for survival, the regime has intensified its executions, recently hanging eight PMOI members who were part of the Resistance Units, alongside more than 20 young people involved in the uprisings or fighting against the IRGC.

Despite these brutal crackdowns, Iranian society is moving inevitably toward a democratic republic. Resistance Units proudly held signs declaring themselves the “symbols of hope in Iran,” highlighting that the “slogan of the Provisional Government is peace and freedom.”
On February 28, 2026, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) announced the establishment of this provisional government to transfer sovereignty to the Iranian people. Based on the Resistance’s Ten-Point Plan, this body is tasked with organizing free elections for a Constituent Assembly within a maximum of six months after the regime’s overthrow. Through their unyielding commitment in Zahedan and across the country, the Resistance Units have forged an “unbreakable pact for the freedom of all the people of Iran,” ensuring that the ultimate fate of the oppressive theocracy is its total overthrow.
