On April 29, PMOI/MEK Resistance Units launched a daring and widespread wave of operations across Iran. These coordinated activities were carried out in direct response to the Iranian regime’s recent execution of dissidents, targeting the very centers and symbols of the ruling establishment’s repression and corruption. The primary message behind these nationwide actions is a resolute defiance against the regime’s brutal repressive measures.
Striking the machinery of repression and propaganda
To demonstrate that the Iranian people will not be intimidated, Resistance Units struck multiple military and security sites across the country. In the cities of Hamedan, Bandar Abbas, and Zahedan, the units successfully set fire to the entrances and signposts of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Basij bases. Furthermore, a regime building was set ablaze in Malard.

Beyond military targets, the Resistance Units took aim at the regime’s ideological footprint. In both Tehran and Mashhad, brave youths torched banners featuring the eliminated regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei. Similar acts of defiance occurred in Juneqan, where Resistance Units set fire to a prominent propaganda poster featuring both the regime founder Ruhollah Khomeini and the eliminated Ali Khamenei. Meanwhile, in Tabriz, a regime propaganda billboard was entirely torched.
Executions expose a fragile regime terrified of a restive nation
These acts of defiance are a direct retaliation against Tehran’s accelerating killing machine, which claimed the lives of two more political prisoners over just two days. Following the massive December 2025–January 2026 nationwide uprising that brought the clerical establishment to its knees, the regime has initiated a desperate domestic purge. While Tehran attempts to project an image of power and control through these brutal hangings, it is fundamentally exposing its deep-seated fear of an increasingly restive society.
Early Saturday morning, on April 25, 2026, the regime’s judiciary hanged Erfan Kiani, a brave rebellious youth from Isfahan who was arrested during the recent nationwide protests. The judiciary’s news agency, Mizan, attempted to justify his death by accusing him of acting as a ringleader. Mizan claimed that Kiani engaged in “destroying public and private property, setting fires, carrying and using Molotov cocktails, carrying cold weapons, blocking the path of vehicles, and attacking agents.” The regime further alleged that by “carrying pre-prepared wooden boards and tires, he facilitated setting fires in the streets” during the January uprising.

Kiani’s tragic death was the ninth execution directly related to the recent uprising. The judiciary has also announced that the cases of 15 other individuals tied to the protests have been processed, resulting in heavy prison sentences.
Brutal targeting of oppressed minorities and looming threats
The regime’s ruthless killing machine also continues its brutal targeting of oppressed minorities. On the morning of Sunday, April 26, the regime executed Amer Ramesh, a Baluch political prisoner, in Zahedan. Demonstrating the regime’s initial brutality, Ramesh had been shot by security forces during a raid on a shop when he was only about 18 years old. Hailing from Belengi, a rural area near Chabahar in Sistan and Baluchestan province, Ramesh had informed his family on Friday, April 24, that he had been transferred from Zahedan Central Prison to quarantine for his scheduled execution. Mizan cited charges of “bomb planting, carrying out an ambush against military forces, and membership in the Jaish al-Adl group.”

Alarmingly, the threat of execution looms over other detained protesters. The Supreme Court in Tehran has recently upheld the death sentences of three young rebellious youths: Ehsan Hosseinipour, Matin Mohammadi, and Erfan Amiri. Their cases, now forwarded to the Office for the Execution of Sentences.
These atrocities demand an immediate response. The international community has a profound duty to hold the Iranian regime accountable for its criminal executions and must take decisive measures to protect the lives of political prisoners before more are lost to the gallows.
