PMOI Resistance Units in Zahedan defy executions and reject dictatorships

On May 15, 2026, Resistance Units of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) resumed their anti-regime activities in Zahedan, southeast Iran. Defying the regime’s wave of political executions and severe security measures, these brave individuals held placards in public places, rejecting all forms of dictatorship and making it clear that the spirit of resistance cannot be extinguished.

The activists held signs bearing slogans such as “No to shah, no to mullahs, yes to a democratic republic,” “A dictator is a dictator, whether with a turban or a crown,” and “From Zahedan to Tehran, down with the oppressor, be it the shah or the supreme leader.” Their message underscored that no act of repression can save the ruling religious fascism from its unavoidable downfall.

Standing in solidarity with the Baluch people amidst executions

The Resistance Units’ activities directly condemned recent state-sponsored atrocities committed against the Baluch people. On Monday, May 11, 2026, Ministry of Intelligence agents opened fire on a vehicle on the Pahreh–Sarbaz road, killing four innocent Baluch civilians.

The following day, May 12, the regime carried out the criminal execution of Baluch political prisoner Abdoljalil Shahbakhsh in Zahedan Prison. He was falsely charged with armed rebellion against State Security Forces during the 2022 uprising.

The Resistance Units highlighted these atrocities on their placards, stating: “The savage executions of Iran’s brave, rebellious youth are driven by the regime’s fear of uprising and its attempt to terrorize the people into submission.”

A weakened regime’s desperate wave of repression

These killings in Zahedan are part of a broader wave of executions carried out by a fragile regime that was pushed to the brink of overthrow during the massive nationwide uprisings of January 2026. The regime relies entirely on brutal repression, keeping forces deployed in the streets out of fear of another popular revolt.

In the past months, the regime has executed eight PMOI members and at least a dozen young protesters. As the Resistance Units noted, the regime is using these executions to futilely try to evade the flames of popular anger.

Rejecting the false alternative and condemning the resurgence of SAVAK

Alongside condemning the mullahs’ crimes, the Resistance Units forcefully rejected the promotion of the criminal SAVAK secret police by the remnants of the ousted Shah’s regime. On May 10, supporters of Reza Pahlavi paraded in Regensburg, Germany, with banners bearing the emblem of SAVAK, a notorious police force documented by Amnesty International for horrific torture methods, including whipping with cables, pulling out nails, and using the “Apollo” torture device.

This glorification of royalist fascism is fueled directly by Pahlavi. During an April 12, 2026, interview on Swedish state television, he explicitly stated, “Regarding my family background, I am proud of my heritage and I support their actions.”

The Resistance Units directly challenged this historical amnesia, holding placards that read: “The disgraceful, criminal actions of the Shah’s and SAVAK’s remnants are simply the flip side of the ruling religious fascism in Iran and Khomeini’s thugs.” They warned that anyone attempting to hijack Iran’s democratic revolution and drown it in blood is making a fatal miscalculation.

The path forward is a democratic republic

The activities in Zahedan reaffirm that the only solution to Iran’s crisis is the complete overthrow of the regime by the people and the organized Resistance. Echoing the leadership of the Iranian Resistance, the units emphasized that confronting this regime is the duty of “the Iranian people, the rebellious youth, the rebellious cities, and the National Liberation Army.”

The Iranian people will absolutely not trade one dictator for another. In a future, free Iran with an independent judiciary, the torturers of both the mullahs’ intelligence services and the Shah’s SAVAK will face justice, paving the way for a true democratic republic based on popular sovereignty.
