Iran’s youth target regime centers in response to executions

In response to the Iranian regime’s repressive actions, which included 11 executions on October 22-23, 2024, and at least 356 executions since Massoud Pezeshkian became president, the rebellious youth of Iran targeted the regime’s symbols and centers of repression, looting, and crime in various cities across the country.

The youth’s responses to the Iranian regime on this day, which took place amid heightened security and repressive measures by the government, were as follows:

Shiraz – An arson attack at a regime building

Qazvin – Burning down of a counseling center for fundamentalist institutions

Mashhad – Setting fire to three IRGC Basij bases and a Basij base tasked with spying on and suppressing students

Yazdanshahr, Isfahan – Setting fire to an IRGC Basij base

Tehran – Burning of a banner of regime founder Ruhollah Khomeini

Isfahan – Burning of a poster of regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei

These activities were carried out at a time when the regime, facing a political crisis and fearing an increase in public protests, has intensified the execution of prisoners.

According to the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) on October 23, 2024, ” The number of executed prisoners in the Iranian month of Mehr 1403 (September 22 to October 21, 2024) has reached 150, which is 85% higher than last Mehr’s executions (81 executions in Mehr 1402) – the final year of the ’88 executioner Raisi’s presidency – and represents the highest figure in recent years. The names of 147 execution victims were previously announced… Thus, Khamenei continues to break his records of cruelty and crime!”

On the same day (October 23, 2024), and in response to the 150 executions in September, Iran’s rebellious youth in Kermanshah targeted the headquarters for enforcing suppressive rules under religious pretext. In Qazvin, the youth targeted the so-called General Directorate of Culture and Islamic Guidance, which oversees the suppression of women and youth. In Isfahan, they targeted one of the buildings of the regime’s repressive municipality.

On October 21, 2024, the Iran’s rebellious youth responded to the regime with more activities against the regime’s centers of repression:

Gorgan – Two arson attacks at the Office of the Head of the Golestan Province Judiciary, which is tasked with handing out execution and prison sentences to innocent people and dissidents

Eslamabad-e Gharb – An arson attack at a regime building

Tehran – An arson attack at one of the centers for the spread of fundamentalism

While the regime has increased the number of executions to intimidate society and counter the uprising and protests, the rebellious youth, through a series of actions against repression, are neutralizing this tool of oppression to pave the way for the millions of people who want to see regime change.

On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, Tehran witnessed a protest rally by families of prisoners in front of the parliament, where they shouted “Stop the executions! Stop the executions!” expressing their anger against regime authorities and the recent rise in the use of the death penalty.

On the same day, during the 39th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, prisoners in 23 prisons across the country issued a statement, bringing the voices of political prisoners’ protests against the continued increase in executions to the attention of the world.

The statement by the striking prisoners reads in part: “The prisoners participating in the ‘No to Execution Tuesdays Campaign,’ while condemning these systematic executions, called on all political, civil, labor, and human rights activists, as well as all awakened consciences, both domestic and international, to confront this repression.” The prisoners also declared: “Today, standing up against the issuance and execution of death sentences must be a part of social demands. This will not be achieved without cooperation and social unity.”
