Iranians across Europe demand no visa for Raisi, voice support for Resistance

Freedom-loving Iranians and supporters of the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) held rallies in six different European countries, along with Ottawa and Toronto in Canada, condemning the mullahs’ regime ruling Iran, calling on the U.S. administration to deny a visa for Iranian regime President Ebrahim Raisi for next month’s annual United Nations General Assembly, and voiced support for the Iranian Resistance. These rallies were held on Saturday, August 20, in Oslo of Norway, Aarhus of Denmark, Geneva of Switzerland, Gothenburg of Sweden, Hamburg of Germany, and the Hague.

Raisi should be arrested and prosecuted for crimes against humanity.

In Oslo, the demonstrators condemned Raisi for his direct role in the summer 1988 massacre of over 30,000 political prisoners, mostly PMOI/MEK members and supporters. The demonstrators are also calling on the U.S. government to deny Raisi a visa as he intends to participate in the upcoming United Nations General Assembly in New York next month, emphasizing that instead he should be arrested and prosecuted for human rights violations and crimes against humanity. These rallies also called on Washington and governments in Europe to end their highly flawed and failed appeasement policy vis-à-vis the mullahs’ regime in Tehran.

In Aarhus, Denmark, the demonstrators, including freedom of loving Iranians and PMOI/MEK supporters, called for the overthrow of the mullahs’ regime by the Iranian people. “Death to Khamenei to and Raisi; damned be Khomeini!” they chanted, in reference to regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and his predecessor, Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the mullahs’ regime in Iran.

These demonstrators were holding placards with messages in Farsi supporting the recent protests in the city of Shahrekord of Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari province in southwest Iran where locals have been suffering from severe water shortages and even without any drinking water for two weeks.

In Geneva, another group of freedom-loving Iranians and PMOI/MEK supporters launched an exhibition commemorating the memory of over 30,000 political prisoners executed by the mullahs’ regime in Iran during the summer of 1988. The demonstrators also condemned the mullahs’ regime for their heinous atrocities throughout the past four decades, especially Raisi as he approved the execution of hundreds of Iranians when he was the chief of the regime’s so-called judiciary and now that he is the mullahs’ selected president.

The exhibition also featured many images of victims of the Iranian regime’s executions in prisons and deadly crackdown against peaceful protests, from the November 2019 uprising to this day.

In Gothenburg, Sweden, those attending the gathering hailed Iranian Resistance Leader Massoud Rajavi, and Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian opposition coalition National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). The PMOI/MEK is the cornerstone member of the NCRI coalition.

The demonstrators in Gothenburg also chanted slogans condemning both the regimes of the Shah and the mullahs, supporting a new revolution in Iran to establish freedom, democracy, and human rights in a non-nuclear Iran. Iranians in Gothenburg also voiced strong criticism of the West’s appeasement policy, especially regarding the Iranian regime’s nuclear dossier and the ongoing talks for a new nuclear deal, while vowing to continue supporting the Iranian Resistance in the ongoing struggle for a free Iran.

In Hamburg, supporters of the PMOI/MEK and the NCRI coalition called for an international fact-finding mission to investigate Iran’s 1988 massacre and bring the perpetrators of the mullahs’ regime before justice for their crimes. These Iranians in Hamburg also reemphasized their support for the Iranian opposition PMOI/MEK.

In the Hague, freedom-loving Iranians and sympathizers of the PMOI/MEK gathered in support of the Iranian people’s protests and the Iranian Resistance and condemning the mullahs’ regime.

Similar rallies were also held in the cities of Ottawa and Toronto in Canada on Saturday with PMOI/MEK supporters highlighting the regime’s human rights violations, voicing support for the Iranian Resistance, and criticizing the West’s appeasement policies vis-a-vis the mullahs’ regime ruling Iran.
