Workers, employees and nurses protest in various cities across Iran

Iran, October 6, 2020—A group of health care workers and nurses held a rally in front of the Majlis (parliament) building in Tehran, the capital of Iran, on Monday, October 5, continuing their strike for the second consecutive day. They were protesting low wages and officials changing their employment classification.

They also demanded their “special nursing bonus” to be paid for the contract nurses and workers.

On Monday, pre-school teachers held a protest rally in front of the regime’s Department of Education in the city of Izeh, Khuzestan province, southwest Iran, demanding a change to their employment status.

On Sunday, a large number of farmers from different cities went to Tehran and gathered in front of government entities and trade unions.

The farmers were protesting the government purchasing their produce at low prices, which harms their revenue.

On Sunday, workers at the Sports Complex in the city of Zanjan, northwest Iran, once again gathered in front of the site’s office building protesting and demanding their six-month delayed paychecks.

It is worth noting that the Zanjan Sports Complex has been closed since last March due to the novel coronavirus outbreak and the workers only received the salary of April. In this six month they are facing many difficulties and poor living conditions.

Locals in Marivan, a city near the Iran-Iraq border, held a rally on Sunday in front of the governorate office protesting the fact that Iraqi fuel tankers are seen commuting in the city’s road.

Last week, five other vehicles caught on fire. In one specific incident, an Iraqi fuel tanker overturned and began burning on the Marivan-Sanandaj road, western Iran, resulting in one death and six people suffering severe burns.
