Protests by dam workers in Piranshahr
Iran, July 24, 2019 – On Tuesday, workers of the Kani dam in Piranshahr, Azarbaijan province, held a demonstration in protest to unpaid wages. The workers have not received their salaries for more than four months. Unpaid wages have become a source of general frustration and outrage across Iran and have triggered many protests in the past year. In many cases, protesting workers have not received their pay for more than a year.
Protests by teachers in Isfahan
A group of contactor teachers in Zarin Shahr, Isfahan province, rallied in front of the offices of the Ministry of Education in Isfahan to protest against the unspecified conditions of their working contract. Contract teachers are not considered government employees and have no job security.
Strikes by hospital workers in Rasht
250 workers of the Ariashahr Hospital in Rasht went on strike on Tuesday in protest to the undeclared reduction in their salaries. The authorities of the hospital have reduced their monthly payments by 5-7 million rials without prior notice. One of the workers said, "It's been more than a year that the workers have been deprived of bonuses."
Protests over water shortages in Shiraz
The people of Sadra city, one of the suburbs of Shiraz, held protests after facing water outages that lasted several days. The outraged people gathered in front of the city's water department wearing unwashed clothes and holding empty water pots to show their protests. One of the protesters said, "Our water was supposed to be rationed for only two hours a day, but our homes have been without water for several days."
The destructive policies of the Iranian regime have severely impacted the natural resources of Iran in several regions. Water outages and shortages have become a common scene in many provinces of the country and have triggered many protests in the past years.
Protest by families of accident victims in Fars
The families of the victims of a recent accident on the Jahrom-Lar highway held a demonstration in front of the construction department of Larestan, Fars province. The participants were protesting to dangerous road conditions. In the past two months, 16 people have been killed on this road.
Protests by people of Kohgiluyeh-Buyer Ahmad
The people of Mazdak region in Buyer Ahmad city held a demonstration in front of the governor's office and protested to the repeated outage of water in their city.
Protests by workers in Qazvin
200 workers from the Counter Manufacturing Company of Qazvin held a demonstration on Tuesday in protest to not being allowed inside the factory. The workers gathered in front of the entrance of the factory and protested to their temporary contract and demanded the clarification of their work status.
Protests by customers of financial institutions in Tehran
On Tuesday, customers of the Caspian Credit Institution gathered in front of the offices of this Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) linked company in Tehran and demanded the refund of their investments. Caspian is one of several regime-affiliated financial institutions that have collectively stolen billions of dollars' worth of investments by ordinary people. The past two years have seen constant protests across Iran by the customers of these companies.
Protests by customs workers in Tehran
A group of workers from customs gates of Qazvin Freeway traveled to Tehran and held a demonstration in front of the headquarters of the Road Transportation Organization. The workers are protesting to their unspecified work status.
