Iran, June 18, 2020—Protests by people from all walks of life continue across Iran as living conditions continue to deteriorate and the regime’s disastrous policies are pushing more Iranians into poverty across the country. Regime officials have also been voicing grave concerns about a new uprising on the horizon.
Railroad workers of the Zagros district held a rally outside the company building protesting delays in their paychecks and pensions. This gathering, held on Tuesday, evolved into a strike, and work in this company has come to a complete halt. During their rally, these workers were able to take full control over a number of company buildings.
“The Zagros observatory committee is receiving money from the Tavros Company to pay off their own debts,” one worker said. All the while, the company’s own employees are suffering and living in poverty.
In Razavi Khorasan province of northeast Iran, more than 6,000 residents of numerous villages are reportedly deprived of drinking water. People in this area are protesting the negligence and indifference of local government officials, saying they have not had drinking water in their homes for the past 15 years.
One farmer in this area said numerous officials have come and gone, pledging to resolve this problem and doing nothing before their tenure comes to an end. One of the villages has even evolved into a small town and yet the problem remains to this day, according to another local. Farmers are using tankers on their trucks to deliver water for their lands while complaining of not having clean drinking water in their homes.
There are cases where women walk four kilometers from their homes to collect water that is not even clean and needs to be boiled and sanitized before used for consumption. Even villages that only have public showers are seeing these facilities being closed by regime authorities.

Locals in a district near the city of Ahvaz in southwest Iran, despite being surrounded by 17 oil wells, are lacking drinking water. This leaves them in grave danger in the face of illnesses.
“We have no water, no nothing, as the novel coronavirus is spreading,” one individual said.
“We have dug a two-meter deep well. We have also installed a pump only to see water come up at 3 am. We are awake 24 hours a day. We only sleep two hours a day,” another individual says.
“This is all we have for our drinking water and the water we use to wash and bathe with,” a third individual added.
“We sit here from 6 am until noon to provide water for our homes,” one woman says.
