Iran, September 13, 2019—Workers of the Haft Tapeh sugar cane complex in the city of Shush, Khuzestan Province, southwest Iran, held a protest rally for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday, September 12.
The Haft Tapeh sugar cane workers syndicate issued a statement saying, “Regime authorities are asking the protesting workers to return to work. However, the workers have resisted and stood firm, and while emphasizing on their demands, they have made it clear these protests will continue until their demands are met.”
The statement reads:
“The workers have launched their protests following the publication of a sound file indicating how Islamic Labor Council members in Shush are receiving bribes. In response, the workers continued their protests for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday in a sign of their protest to this clear case of treachery. The workers are demanding the following:
– All members of the bribe-receiving Islamic Labor Council be expelled and the entire entity is annulled.
– Expelling the corrupt branch and unqualified directors, including financial and administrative directors, who are receiving massive paychecks (these individuals are retired).
“It is worth noting that following four days of protests and rallies by the Haft Tapeh sugar cane workers, regime officials came to see the workers at the administrative office saying they should return to work in order to have their requests evaluated. However, the workers stood firm and vowed to continue their protests until their demands are met.”

In other news regarding Haft Tapeh, jail sentences totaling up to 110 years for seven individuals arrested during protests held by workers of the Haft Tapeh Sugar Cane industrial complex workers have become a major embarrassment for the mullahs’ regime in Iran, forcing them to scale down on this decision.
On Saturday, September 7, the mullahs’ judiciary, chaired by Ebrahim Raisi, sentenced these seven individuals arrested to six to 18 years behind bars. They include Sanaz Elahiari, Sepideh Gholian, Asal Mohammadi, Ami Amirgholi, Esmaeel Bakhshi, Mohammad Khoneifar, and Amir Hossein Mohammadi Far.
The Haft Tapeh sugar cane workers have launched numerous protest campaigns and strike to voice their demands of delayed paychecks and protest other plundering policies imposed by regime officials and insiders that aim only to fill their own pockets at the expense of these workers and their innocent families.
Following these recent jail sentences, accumulating up to 110 years, the mullahs’ regime found itself facing a wave of widespread protests. To prevent this latest movement from transforming into various demonstrations and an uprising, the mullahs’ have been forced into downgrading their harsh decision. Raisi, who has very close relations with Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and is known for his role in the atrocious summer 1988 massacre, has issued an order for a second evaluation of these sentences.
