The regime’s Health Ministry reported on Thursday that the number of red cities has increased to 16, orange cities to 201 and yellow cities to 231. There are no cities considered blue zones. Some red cities are facing the spread of the Indian and South African variants and if health protocols are not abided by it is possible a new coronavirus wave may begin, the Ministry added, according to a Thursday report wired by the regime’s official IRNA news agency.

“Unfortunately, some of our southern provinces have seen an increase in the number of people seeking initial medical care for Covid-19 and those being hospitalized. We hope there will not be a fifth peak but if we are not careful, we will enter a fifth peak in less than three weeks,” said a member of the regime’s National Covid-19 Task Force on Thursday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“This week those who have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine should start receiving their second dose. However, these people are receiving a certain response when calling on vaccination centers: ‘We don’t have any vaccines. Come back later,’” according to a Thursday report posted on the state-run Khabar Online website. “If the second dose is to be provided in four weeks and this timing is not met, those people who were vaccinated will have to start all over again,” said Minoo Mohraz, a senior member of the regime’s National Covid-19 Task Force on Thursday.

“The number of people being hospitalized has increased. In the third wave we had 130 people hospitalized and in this wave this number has reached 170. The capacity of our hospitals is limited,” said the mayor of Abhar, a city in Zanjan province on Thursday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The blood bank of [Sistan & Baluchistan] province is facing a severe shortage crisis. The spread of coronavirus has decreased the number of blood donators by 50 percent,” said the director of the Blood Transfer Center in this province on Thursday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“During the past 24 hours we have identified 982 new positive coronavirus cases. This is a new high for us,” said the spokesperson of the Hormozgan Medical Sciences University on Thursday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The city of Sarpol Zahab (western Iran) remaining a red zone is still possible. The number of new cases has increased in comparison to last week,” said the head of the city’s Health Center on Thursday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.
