“During the past 24 hours the number of new cases across the country increased by 23 percent and once again the daily death toll reached three digits,” said Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi on Monday. “In Tehran, this week we witnessed a 13 percent increase in the number of new cases in comparison to last week. International organizations are forecasting up to 200 daily Covid-19 deaths in Iran during the next three months,” he added, according to state TV.

“Alborz province is one of the areas where we need to pay close attention to. The province of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad, especially the city of Gachsaran, need dire measures to bring the status quo under control. We are extremely concerned about the UK strain circulating across these areas. Gachsaran needs to be considered a red zone area,” said Alireza Raisi, spokesperson of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Monday. “Last week the province of Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari had a terrible peak. Our forecast indicates that this wave will continue to have its ups and downs. Next week it may increase once again. The province of Qom is in the wake of a new rise and there have been six cases of the UK strain in this province. Khuzestan province still has an extremely fast rise in new cases,” he added, according to state TV.

“The number of people seeking medical care in Tehran’s hospitals have increased in the past few weeks and this increase reached 40 percent in some provinces,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force.

“In Ahvaz we are still seeing this illness in high flames. We are concerned about the northern and eastern parts of Khuzestan province,” said Health Minister Saied Namaki on Monday, according to state TV.

“The number of new cases in Khuzestan province is on the rise and conditions are very difficult in the southwest parts of this province,” said the deputy dean of Ahvaz Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

“At least 80 percent of the country’s daily death toll is from Khuzestan province while the provincial population is less than six percent of the country’s entire population,” according to a Tuesday piece published in the state-run Etemad daily. “Why should we say the entire population of Khuzestan province will be vaccinated while we all know how the country’s vaccination process is proceeding. These hollow promises will only increase distrust among the people.”

“The number of UK strain cases in the town of Saggez Abad is equal to the city of Tehran,” said the governor of Qazvin province on Tuesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The earthquake-hit city of Sisakht has gone from an earthquake to a Covid-19 crisis. The number of new cases has increased significantly and if the status quo is not controlled we will become a red zone area,” said the mayor of Dana in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad province on Tuesday, according to the state-run Roydad24 website.

“The number of Covid-19 deaths in Ardabil have increased four-fold and currently the total number of hospitalized patients in this province stands at 145, of which 45 are in ICUs,” said the dean of Ardabil Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Yesterday another 27 individuals were registered to have contracted the UK strain and the total number of such cases in Hormozgan province has reached 114,” said the spokesperson of the Hormozgan Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the Tasnim news agency.
