Iran, December 12, 2020—Over 183,300 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 470 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Saturday afternoon local time, December 12. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 51,949, around a third of the actual figure.

“This week we witnessed the highest number of patients hospitalized in the provinces of Ilam, Ardabil, Tehran and Golestan. The highest number of deaths were reported in Ardabil, Yazd, Zanjan, West Azerbaijan and Ilam,” said the spokesperson for the regime’s Health Ministry on Saturday. “The number of new Covid-19 cases in the country’s northern provinces are rising and despite the relative decrease of cases across the country we are facing an unstable, sensitive and fragile situation,” she added, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

Today, regime President Hassan Rouhani made more preposterous remarks following ten days of lies, engineered stats, illusive words, promoting superstitions and imposing wrong policies, which have long raised objections and criticism from the regime’s own officials and experts. “From February 19 we were not in doubt, nor did we hesitate in addressing this incident. Some were in denial but in Iran there was never any denial. From day one we were all accepting the situation,” he claimed on Saturday. “Some countries were in illusion on what strategy to adopt. However, our steps were crystal clear from the very beginning. We based our measures first on science and some foreign based outlets took some steps, but fortunately they were not successful,” Rouhani added. “Today the illness’ trend has been decreasing in most areas and aside from a small number of areas we are very hopeful. Only 12 cities are considered red zones and we will contain them, too,” he continued.

“If we sit back and wait for Biden to come to office and purchase vaccines with our frozen financial assets, we will be witnessing the current trend of high number of daily deaths until July 2021,” said the head of Iran’s Special Cares Association on Saturday. “The reason why the death rate in Iran is higher than other countries is related to our diagnostic methods. This process is weak in Iran. Many countries have prioritized diagnosing and paying the necessary price … In Iran even though the President announces that all the procedures of Covid-19 medical care are free of charge, hospitals are demanding patients to pay in full for the medical care. There are no subsidies in this regard from the government. If they have ordered vaccines to be imported, why are there no documents for these orders? All other countries provide reports about orders placed for vaccines in their media outlets, indicating the country of origin, the company and the number of doses ordered. Yet why is it that in Iran there are no lists of these orders from any countries? The claims being made of producing a vaccine are aimed at sliding the situation at hand under the rug,” the official added, according to the semi-official ILNA news agency.

“Up to Friday night around 22,022 people had Covid-19 burials were registered in [Tehran’s famous] Beheshte Zahra Cemetery. We are concerned of witnessing yet another peak in late December and January. We saw three peaks in one month and the last peak was horrific,” said chair of the Tehran City Council Health Committee on Saturday, according to the Fars news agency, an outlet linked to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

“Restrictions and quarantine measures have not been able to put out Covid-19’s fire under the ashes in Mazandaran [province in northern Iran] and there are still 899 people hospitalized, including 190 in ICUs. Restrictions continue in cities registered as red zones,” according to a Saturday report wired by the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The conditions of 82 patients in ICU are quite dire and we are witnessing an increase in the number of patients. Ten patients have died in the past 24 hours,” said the dean of Ardabil Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“Many health initiatives have either not been launched or finalized,” said the dean of Gilan Medical Sciences University on Saturday. “Our province is very much behind when it comes to physical space and medical equipment. The Pour Sina and Razi hospitals in the city of Rasht have a history of more than 50 years yet they do not have necessary equipment such as CT scans,” the official added, according to the Mehr news agency.
