“Conditions to contain Covid-19 in Iran are worse in comparison to advanced western countries and our circumstances are better in comparison to some countries,” said regime President Hassan Rouhani on Thursday. It is worth noting that Rouhani once said Iran is ahead of European countries in containing the novel coronavirus. “With adequate planning in two weeks we were able to control the conditions to some extent. Razavi Khorasan province was in extremely poor conditions in the past four weeks. However, today it is returning to normal circumstances,” Rouhani claimed.

“Conditions in Tehran remain highly fragile. A rushed reopening can lead to an increase in the spread of the illness and a repeat of the horrible experience we had back in February and March,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Thursday. “Tehran is the focal point in controlling Covid-19 and without a doubt controlling this illness throughout the country. Preventing the spread in Tehran will be impossible without containment measures,” he added, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“Today’s death toll was 36 and the total number of Covid-19 fatalities in Fars province stands at 2561,” said the deputy dean of Shiraz Medical Sciences University on Thursday. “There are currently 1624 patients hospitalized, of which 317 are in ICUs,” the official added, according to the regime’s state TV.

“Unfortunately the high number of people being hospitalized on a daily basis continues as we speak and to this day we have not been able to decrease or break the chain reaction of this virus’ spread in our province,” said the dean of Ardabil Medical Sciences University on Thursday. “Our ICU branches have reached their limits. Ever since this virus has been spreading the number of ICU beds have increased but we still have not been able to address the high number of dire coronavirus patients. Eleven patients have lost their lives in the past 24 hours,” the official added, according to the Mehr news agency.

“Around 1170 people are hospitalized in our province’s hospitals, of which 300 are in ICUs and 130 are under ventilators,” said the dean of Tabriz Medical Sciences University in East Azerbaijan province on Thursday, according to the Mehr news agency.

“Yesterday a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force said the chain reaction of this virus has been broken with the imposed restrictions. However, this trend has been quite the opposite in Mazandaran province, and we are witnessing an increasing number of patients. As we speak 893 patients are hospitalized,” according to a Thursday report wired by the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“If the fourth peak arrives in the winter season, it will most certainly be worse than the previous peaks,” said the dean of South Khorasan Medical Sciences University on Thursday, according to the ISNA news agency.

In Alborz province east of Tehran, governor of the city of Karaj warned about a rushed approach into ending the quarantine measures. “Conditions in Karaj remain fragile. Therefore, high-risk businesses will remain restricted in their activities,” the official said on Thursday, according to the Mehr news agency.
