Iran, October 14, 2020—Over 123,100 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 458 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Wednesday afternoon local time, October 14. The official death count declared by the regime stands at 29,349, less than a fourth of the actual figure.
The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 29,451 in Tehran, 9250 in Razavi Khorasan, 7878 in Khuzestan, 6409 in Isfahan, 5582 in Mazandaran, 4816 in Gilan, 4358 in East Azerbaijan, 3501 in Golestan, 3397 in West Azerbaijan, 3367 in Alborz, 3241 in Fars, 2683 in Kermanshah, 2201 in Kurdistan, 1872 in Semnan, 1665 in Markazi (Central), 1641 in Yazd, 1206 in Qazvin, 1173 in Zanjan, and 864 in Kohgiluyeh & Boyer Ahmed. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

While the Covid-19 crisis in Iran grows with each passing day and anti-regime hatred is escalating among Iran’s population, regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei sought to portray a caring image of himself by criticizing mullahs’ President Hassan Rouhani on lockdown measures.
“Regulations for Covid-19 conditions should be imposed by the state and mandatory. I have said for a long time to the President and officials that these regulations need to be mandatory. Some of our activities and travels must be banned. Some of our commuting will lead to the further spread of this virus without being controlled, which is truly unfortunate,” Khamenei tweeted.
Rouhani responded in a cabinet meeting on Wednesday. “On confronting Covid-19, our medical professionals, physicians and nurses, armed forces, directors or our economic sector, and technological companies have done whatever they could and will continue to do so,” he said.

The regime’s Health Ministry spokesperson announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers on Wednesday as 279 deaths, 4830 new cases and 4609 patients in dire conditions. These are record numbers since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic and unprecedented during the past eight months.
“Commuting to and from the cities of Tehran, Karaj, Isfahan, Mashhad and Urmia from 12 am Thursday until noon on Saturday,” she added, according to the regime’s official IRNA news agency.
“There are many people receiving Covid-19 treatment in our hospitals but since their tests are negative, they are not registered as a Covid-19 case. We know that this individual is a Covid-19 cases. There these numbers may be 1.5, 1.7, 2, or 2.2 times higher. It depends on the province, but the stats are significant,” said Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi on Tuesday, according to state TV.
“To prevent a further deterioration of the status quo we need to immediately close all schools, universities and other public centers. Otherwise we will witness an increase in Covid-19 deaths,” said Minoo Mohraz, a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Wednesday, according to the state-run Hamshahri daily.
A member of Tehran City Council confirmed on Wednesday that 390 people had been buried in Behesht-e Zahra in the previous day, according to Fars News Agency, affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). The official added, “Covid-19 deaths constituted a little less than half of this number. Of course, some of the deceased who have been registered as the ordinary deaths can have died of coronavirus but have not been tested or did not go to hospitals.”
Alireza Zali, the head of the National Covid-19 Task Force said, “Tehran is still in the throes of Covid-19. Tehran is experiencing the worst days of the third wave of the disease. As long as there’s no serious intervention, this peak will not subside, and the situation might persist. According to a report aired by the regime’s state TV on Tuesday, the head of the infectious diseases department of Khomeini hospital in Tehran said, “Unfortunately, hospitals have almost been filled and don’t accept new patients because all beds are occupied. The number of cases in the second wave was much larger than the first one, and the third wave is even more serious.” (Source: State TV, October 13).
In the same report, the oxygen technician of Khomeini hospital said, “In the past few years, our consumption of oxygen was 60-70 capsules per 24 hours. Right now, due to the coronavirus situation, we’re using 1,000 capsules per day.”
The 22 Bahman hospital of Neyshabur, Razavi Khorasan province, has become the center of hospitalization and treatment of Covid-19 patients, but ICU beds are fill and more than 500 Covid-19 patients have lost their lives, the regime’s state-run television reported on October 13.
According to the dean of Western Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University, who was quoted by Javan Daily on Wednesday, there are currently 1,056 [Covid-19] patients, 224 of whom are in ICU. Sixteen patients lost their lives in the past day and the total number of deaths has reached 1,268, the dean said, adding, “The growing trend is very dangerous.”
