Iran, October 10, 2020—Over 120,100 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 458 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Saturday afternoon local time, October 10. The official death count declared by the regime stands at 28,293, around a fifth of the actual figure.
The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 9050 in Razavi Khorasan, 7643 in Khuzestan, 6134 in Isfahan, 5552 in Mazandaran, 5253 in Lorestan, 4771 in Gilan, 4198 in East Azerbaijan, 3466 in Golestan, 3461 in Sistan & Baluchistan, 3287 in West Azerbaijan, 3280 in Alborz, 3181 in Fars, 2633 in Kermanshah, 2089 in North Khorasan, 1841 in Semnan, 1835 in Kerman, 1606 in Yazd, 1590 in Hormozgan, 1570 in Markazi (Central), 1133 in Zanjan, 912 in Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari, and 874 in South Khorasan. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

At a time when the Covid-19 crisis in Iran has placed many areas in crisis-mode and workers are forced to go to work and place themselves at risk of contracting the virus just to make ends meet, in his remarks on Saturday regime President Hassan Rouhani literally shed light on the regime’s plans to further plunder the population. “Anyone who realizes they have contracted the virus and leaves their house will be fined two million rials. If anyone is seen not wearing a face mask, they will be fined 500,000 rials,” Rouhani said. It is worth noting an average worker in Iran receives a mere 12 million rials per month.
“State police, the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Basij, and our monitors and inspectors are on duty to register people’s identifications. Those who are fined must deposit the amount in the account specified by the Health Ministry. If the fined individual refuses to do so, the money will be extracted from their account. For those who violate these regulations in stores, they will first be issued a warning. On a second violation they will be fined three million rials. On a third occasion they will be fined ten million rials. On a fourth violation their store will be closed. If taxi drivers are seen violating these regulations, they will be fined one million rials. If they board a passenger who doesn’t have a mask, they will be fined 200,000 rials for each such passenger,” he explained.
“Tehran is in critical conditions regarding the spread of Covid-19,” said Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi on Saturday. “The number of people hospitalized for coronavirus in Tehran is 175 percent higher than the number of those released each day,” he added, according to state TV.
“The number of colleagues that we have lost are irreplaceable individuals. Each physician, each member of our nursing staff and medical professional that is lost are the country’s treasures that are being lost. They cannot be replaced,” said Deputy Health Minister Ghasem Jan-Babaie on Friday, according to state TV.
“The alarm bell has sounded across the country. If we continue to allow Covid-19 to spread, in the not so distant future there will no longer be any empty hospital beds or any graves in our cemeteries,” a piece published on Saturday in the semi-official ISNA news agency read.

“Nearly 5,000 patients are hospitalized in Tehran and considering the fact that hospital beds are full as we speak, the conditions before us are not good,” said Nader Tavakoli, deputy dean of the Iran Medical Sciences University on Saturday. “During the past few days urgent measures have been instructed in the National Covid-19 Task Force in order to maybe manage these circumstances a bit better. In our country the virus is spreading extensively and that is why it is exceedingly difficult to control the virus,” he added, according to the Fars news agency, an outlet linked to the IRGC.
“For the past 20 days or so we have had a far more severe increase in Tehran in comparison to the country’s average rates. In one day alone we had 961 new Covid-19 patients being hospitalized. This was higher than all other periods of the Covid-19 crisis. If this trend continues, we will most definitely be facing grave difficulties,” said Ali Maher, deputy chair of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Saturday, according to the semi-official ILNA news agency.
“The number of people entering [Tehran’s Masih Daneshvari] hospital is extremely high. There are a number of trailers where ill people who are forced to wait can at least receive oxygen treatment,” said a specialist of this hospital on Saturday, according to state TV.

“The conditions of Covid-19 patients have deteriorated. All ICU beds are filled with patients and each day we are in need of more ICU beds. All the Covid-19 records were broken during in late September and October,” said the dean of Kermanshah Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the IRGC Quds Force.
“With 75 positive tests among those living in retirement homes in the city of Neyshabur (northeast Iran), hospitals in this city are in hyper-critical conditions,” said the dean of Neyshabur Medical Sciences University on Friday, according to the Akhareen Khabar website on Friday.
“From the beginning of this week to this day the number of people hospitalized in the city of Sirjan (south-central Iran) have increased by 100 percent,” said the spokesperson of the Sirjan Covid-19 Task Force on Saturday.
“We are issuing a warning that if this trend continues, we will be witnessing 50 to 60 new Covid-19 patients entering our hospitals in Kerman province on a daily basis. Obviously, all hospital beds across this province will be full,” said the dean of Kerman Medical Sciences University on Saturday. “Currently the Covid-19 spread among family members has increased and we have had cases in which four or five members of one family have contracted the virus. Even two members of that family lost their lives,” he added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.
