Iran, September 25, 2020—Over 109,300 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 444 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Friday afternoon local time, September 2. The official death count declared by the regime stands at 25,222, around a fifth of the actual figure.
The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 8102 Razavi Khorasan, 7011 in Khuzestan, 5346 in Isfahan, 4853 in Lorestan, 4441 in Gilan, 3428 in East Azerbaijan, 3062 in Alborz, 3006 in Farz, 2852 in Hamedan, 2467 in Kermanshah, 1939 in North Khorasan, 1714 in Kerman, 1490 in Hormozgan, 1428 in Markazi (Central), 1345 in Bushehr 1317 in Ardabil, 1031 in Zanjan, 909 in Ilam, 836 in Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari, and 787 in Kohgiluyeh & Boyer Ahmad. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

Spokesperson for the regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers on Friday as 207 deaths in the past 24 hours. This is the highest daily death toll in the past 52 days. The number of patients in dire conditions was announced at 4023, itself being the highest in the past 45 days.
“Our medical professionals have been working day and night for several months now without any rest. They are under severe psychological pressure because we have never had so many seriously ill patients and we have never seen such a high death rate,” said Minoo Mohraz, a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Friday. “This is having an impact on the quality of their work. In such conditions should not be paying these people, whose lives are on the line, on time and as much as they deserve? Among all these issues, a shortage in medicine and various medical supplies are further issues that are concerning us these days. The Covid-19 crisis in our country is a serious issue and some of the shortages make this matter even more urgent,” she added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

As reported by the Mehr News Agency, affiliated with the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS), in a letter to the interior minister, the provincial governor of Isfahan wrote, “If no plans are made for the province soon and the privileges of the national Covid-19 Task Force are not given to the provincial task force, we might face an irreparable incident. According to reports by the Medical Sciences University, the Covid-19 epidemic is in its most dangerous situation in the province since the beginning of the outbreak. Daily cases have increase to 1,000. Given the limited capacity of the hospitals and the high rate of coronavirus infection among the medical staff, there’s fear that the current trend will lead to a crisis in the activities of emergency services of the province.”
Javan Daily, affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), quoted the spokesperson of Isfahan Medical Sciences University as saying, “In the past 24 hours, 212 new patients with Covid-19-like symptoms were hospitalized. The total number of hospitalized coronavirus patients in the province, not including Kashan and Aran and Bidgol counties, is 1,330, and 212 of them are in ICU. In the past 24 hours, we registered 19 deaths in the hospital that were suspect of being due to coronavirus, and nine deaths that were definitively Covid-19.”
The manager of the sanitation center of Kashan said that the shortage of ICU beds and other supplies has made it very hard to control the situation, ILNA news agency reported on Thursday. “The capacity of the treatment facility has been filled and the exhaustion of the medical staff can lead to a disaster,” the official added.
The dean of Eastern Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University said, “For the first time, all counties in the province are in critical conditions. We have 1,000 hospitalized patients. In the past 24 hours, 400 new patients were registered and 17 people died of Covid-19.” (Source: Javen, September 25)
The dean of Qom Medical Sciences University confirmed 778 hospitalized Covid-19 patients in the province, including 115 who are in critical conditions, as reported by Mehr News Agency on Thursday. “In the past 24 hours, 11 people who had tested positive for Covid-19 died,” the dean added.
In Khuzestan, the dean of Ahvaz Medical Sciences University said, “Ahvaz, Omidiyeh, Aghajari, Behbehan, Abadan, Shushtar, Baghamlak, Khorramshahr, and Izzeh are in red conditions. This is while the transmission of the virus between people has been amplified as a result of genetic mutation, and the power of infection has increased.” (Source: Tasnim News Agency, September 25)
The caretaker of Alborz Medical Sciences University said, “In the past 24 hours, 11 patients died of coronavirus, and the total number of deaths in the province has reached 1,136.” (Source: ISNA, September 25)
On Thursday, the state-run Moj News Agency wrote: “Contrary to the opinion of the president and the education minister and the health minister, who believe Muharram ceremonies and the reopening of schools had no effect on the spread of the virus, it seems that due to lack of implementation of protocols in these two cases, some provinces have surpassed the code-red conditions and are now black.”
