Iran: Changes to Rouhani’s cabinet?

Analysis by PMOI/MEK

July 20, 2018 – Various reports of possible changes in the cabinet of Iranian regime President Hassan Rouhani’s cabinet are heard now and then these days. One day there was the word of First Vice Eshaq Jahangiri, only to be canceled shortly.

Then there were reports of the Health Minister being sacked, who is known to have said, “Let’s put the small talk aside… I have said in cabinet meetings that some of us may be good for some circumstances, but be set aside the night before serious measures!”

His remarks may signal possible developments among senior ranks of the mullahs’ regime and specifically Rouhani’s cabinet.

Furthermore, we have Rouhani’s chief of staff Mahmoud Vaezi speaking of “new conditions” the regime is facing “following U.S.’ pullout of the Iran nuclear deal.

“We need cabinet members to handle our affairs while taking the current circumstances into consideration,” he added in his recent remarks.

“Some members of the cabinet, chosen in normal circumstances, are now under evaluation by Rouhani to be set aside, and there are a number of names being reviewed,” Vaezi continued in remarks to the media.

The question is what’s behind all this sudden talk of changes among senior ranks, which of course have yet to become practical up to now.

The answer lies in the circumstances that are now engulfing the mullahs’ regime. Ghazizadeh, another Rouhani minister, specifically used the words “a fast-approaching storm targeting the establishment’s doors and windows,” when describing the current conditions. Of course, all the pillars of this regime are now extremely weakened.

“The harsh days ahead have caused major concerns inside the establishment, leaving some people frightened and concerned,” he added.

Rouhani himself made chilling remarks two months ago saying, “In my mind, I divide the ministers into two groups… there are those who have become disappointed. Those who consider the budget too small or consider our exports and the transfer of our oil revenue as poor.”

Disappointment is now considered the reputable phrase for losing all hope.

One significant factor behind this entire ordeal for the mullahs’ regime is the utter reality that this apparatus has no solutions for the status quo.

Rouhani needs to replace his hopeless ministers; on the other hand, the regime’s conditions have become so fragile that any such shuffling – especially considering the infighting inside the regime – can itself lead to increasing tensions and further escalate the crisis Rouhani and Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei are now facing.

Various reports of a major reshuffling in Rouhani’s cabinet, and the denunciation of such claims, further proves the regime’s utter impasse.

It is interesting to know that the Iranian opposition National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) is now enjoying increasing support inside the country and international acknowledgment as the sole alternative that is providing a viable agenda for regime change and the transition period of transferring power to the people.

The recent Iranian opposition convention in Paris further proved the enormous backing this coalition enjoys, further adding to the Iranian regime’s miseries.
