The mullahs’ 43-year reign has turned Iran into a degenerate society with no human values left for its people and no money and jobs to live in dignity. Unemployed, hopeless, and desperate youth are trapped by drug gangs, who are controlled and in the service of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).
According to an interview with an addiction expert named Saeed Safatian and published last year by the state-run website 55 Online, more than 4.4 million of Iran’s 80 million people are now addicted.
According to this website, the saddest fact is that Iranian addicts are no longer drug users of traditional materials which are extracted from natural sources like plants. Rather, according to these media, 60 percent of addicts are now industrial drug users with 40 percent addicted to psychedelics.
The first psychedelic substance is cannabis or Gol (Marijuana), followed by glass (Amphetamine). Marijuana consumption has increased dramatically in recent years, lowering the age of addiction in the country dramatically. Especially young girls have turned to drugs.
Referring to the regime’s success in combating addiction and decreasing the number of addicted people of the country this Safatian said, “Even now, given that Iran has a population of about 85 million, the number of addicts is more than four million. In my opinion, our fight against drugs has not been successful and no one can say that we have had a successful fight.
“Of course, one can say that our campaign is successful, but if we ask several different experts, they say it has not been successful. Especially during Mr. Rouhani’s government, which was weak. This means that if we compare the governments with each other, Mr. Rouhani’s government, with all its plans, was perhaps one of the weakest governments in the fight against drugs.”
Addiction and unemployment are two sides of the same coin
The increase in addiction in the country should be combined with the rising unemployment rate: Asghar Kesht Kar, vice president of the University of Applied Sciences wrote in a report published by the state-run news agency ISNA on January 13, 2022, that the unemployment rate among university graduates in Iran is 42 percent.
He said the unemployment rate was 31 percent for undergraduates, three percent for the illiterate, 42 percent for those with higher education, and 24 percent for those with a diploma.
In other words, university graduates comprise most of the urban unemployed. These classifications among the unemployed pose a major threat to the ruling political system. Therefore, there is no doubt that youth addiction is part of the official policy of government institutions to distract society, especially the youths from their rightful demands and freedom.
In another report, the regime’s state-run website pgnews on January 16, 2022, wrote about, the annual death of 50,000 to 60,000 people due to smoking, and added, “Referring to the situation of addiction in the country, Taqi Rostam Wandy, the head of the Social Affairs Organization, mentioned addiction as a discussion of ‘life’ and ‘death’ and added that between 50,000 and 60,000 people in the country die due to smoking annually.”
