“The sixth wave can be upon us. We have yet to reach full vaccination and high coverage. With winter arriving, people taking part in social gatherings and the reopening of schools, if we don’t have expertise work and don’t act with calculated measures, all of this can push us towards the sixth wave,” said Mohammad Mehdi Guya, head of the Health Ministry’s Center to Manage Infectious Diseases, on Wednesday, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

“The fifth peak began in June and we’re still feeling its impact. The death toll in ICUs rose each day and this very subject led to significant concerns among the population. Another matter that led to a more devastating fifth wave was how coronavirus restrictions were managed. Despite the fact that the country was registered as a red zone, some decisions in the National Covid-19 Task Force were not as effective to decrease the peak’s impact,” according to a report wired today in the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“4500 nurses in [East Azerbaijan] province have contracted Covid-19. During the past two years, more than 60 percent of the nurses have contracted this illness. We need at least another 1000 nurses,” said the Director of Nursing in Tabriz Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“From September 23 to December 6, for every 100,000 people, 1591 students in the city of Tarem contracted Covid-19. The coronavirus spread is escalating in the cities of Khodabandeh, Khorramdareh, and Tarem,” said the dean of Zanjan Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Reviewing the numbers indicates a sudden increase in all stats. The death toll in comparison to the previous 24 hours period has increased fourfold, and the number of new cases has escalated significantly,” according to a report wired on Wednesday by the Mehr news agency about Semnan province.
