Iran coronavirus update: Over 485,600 deaths, Omicron variant enters through Khuzestan

Over 485,600 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Monday afternoon local time, December 6. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 130,277, around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 113,725 in Tehran, 33,340 in Isfahan, 29,450 in Khuzestan, 18,283 in West Azerbaijan, 18,160 in Fars, 17,700 in Mazandaran, 16,743 in East Azerbaijan, 13,027 in Kerman, 10,590 in Golestan, 8055 in Hormozgan, 6120 in Ardabil, 4638 in Ilam, and 4605 in Zanjan. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Monday as 77 deaths and 3356 new cases. Furthermore, 3232 patients are in ICUs and 559 of the new cases have been hospitalized.

“During the coronavirus crisis, we were facing excessive measures. In the first days of the crisis, there was constant talk of quarantine measures. However, as we saw, no quarantine measures were placed, or they were imposed with enormous delay. If we had implemented quarantine measures on time, we could have saved many lives,” said the dean of Tehran Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Around 2,000 students across Tehran province have contracted coronavirus during the past two weeks. We should not report the stats in a way to cause concerns for the public,” said the governor of Tehran province on Monday, according to the Fars news agency, an outlet linked to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

“The Omicron variant will probably enter the country and the number of new Covid-19 cases will rise… Omicron may already exist in our country because finding a variant cannot be carried out with regular tests. We need extremely advanced testing equipment,” said the head of Mashhad Medical Apparatus on Monday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The coronavirus test of around 6.5 percent of the students has been positive,” said the head of the Health Center in the city of Boyer Ahmad,” according to a Monday report wired by the Mizan news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s judiciary.

“During the past 24 hours 131 coronavirus patients have been hospitalized. There are currently a total of 1207 patients hospitalized, of which 118 are in ICUs,” according to a Monday statement released by the Shiraz Medical Sciences University regarding Fars province.

“During the past 24 hours 113 coronavirus patients have been hospitalized. There are currently a total of 574 patients hospitalized, of which 144 are in ICUs and 25 are under ventilators,” according to a Monday statement released by the West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University.

“During the past week despite numerous warnings, unfortunately, the arrival of a number of foreign nationals has led to the Omicron variant entering the country through ports of Khuzestan province,” said the dean of Ahvaz Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the IRGC Quds Force-affiliated Tasnim news agency.
