On Friday, October 31, the streets of Zahedan once again became a stage for defiance as PMOI Resistance Units resumed their anti-regime activities. This latest action underscores the unyielding spirit of the national uprising, which seeks not just to overthrow the current theocracy but to establish a democratic republic that completely rejects all forms of dictatorship. The messages displayed by these brave activists, predominantly from the younger generation, offer a clear and sophisticated vision for Iran’s future—one where the people’s sovereignty is paramount.
Generation Z: The core of the uprising
The activities in Zahedan placed a strong emphasis on the central role of Iran’s youth. Placards declared, “Generation Z is the core of future uprisings,” highlighting their determination to shape the destiny of their nation.

For this generation, the clerical regime has delivered nothing but despair. As another sign read, “Under the rule of the mullahs, the share of the youth has only been unemployment, poverty and executions.” In response, the youth have made their intentions clear: “The young generation of Iran has risen to expose and overthrow this injustice.” Their actions are a testament to the fact that the very generation the regime has sought to suppress has become the engine of its downfall.
A definitive rejection of all dictators
Crucially, the slogans demonstrated a profound rejection of any return to the past dictatorship of the monarchy. The activists held signs with the powerful and unequivocal message: “Death to the oppressor, be it the Shah or the Supreme Leader.” This slogan represents a firm barrier against those who would seek to replace one form of tyranny with another.

Other placards reinforced this stance, stating, “A dictator is a dictator, whether he wears a turban or a crown,” and “Iranians are awake; they despise both the Shah and the mullahs.” The movement’s goal is not a change of rulers but a fundamental change of system, summarized by the slogan, “Neither monarchy nor leadership — democracy and equality.”
A struggle rooted in national history
The Resistance Units also connected their modern struggle to Iran’s long and proud history of seeking freedom and sovereignty. One prominent banner read, “Kourosh, Mossadegh, we fight, we die, we take Iran back.” By invoking Cyrus the Great, an ancient symbol of justice, and Mohammad Mossadegh, the 20th-century champion of national independence, the protesters framed their uprising as the next chapter in the Iranian people’s historic quest for self-determination.
The message from Zahedan is a clear reflection of the sentiment across Iran. The youth are leading a movement that is not just against the mullahs but is for a democratic future. As their slogans declare, “The era of any kind of dictatorship, whether religious or monarchical, is over.” The final word belongs to the people, who insist: “Like the shah, the mullahs must go. Iran’s sovereignty belongs to the people.”
