More than 70 cities witness Iranian Resistance activities in May

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, June 01, 2020—Iran, June 1, 2020—During the summer of 1988, based on a fatwa by the regime’s then-Supreme Leader Ruhollah Khomeini, more than 30,000 political prisoners were massacred. The vast majority of the victims were members and supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). Khomeini decreed: “Whoever at any stage continues to belong to the PMOI/MEK must be executed.”

Therefore, in recent days members of the Iranian Resistance Units, MEK’s network inside Iran, celebrated the anniversary of Khomeini’s death in various cities of the country, with the slogan “Down with the principle of the Supreme Leader’s rule.”

Resistance Units members posted banners and took to graffiti in public areas, writing messages of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi and Maryam Rajavi, President of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) across the country in cities such as Tehran, Isfahan, Urmia, Khoramshahr, Ahwaz, Rudsar, Kerman, Rasht, Robat Karim (Tehran), Kashan, Nishabur, Qazvin, Gachsaran, Garmsar, Shahr-e Quds (Tehran), Quchan, and Eslamshahr.

On Sunday, May 31, the brave youth of Tehran, Ahwaz, Tabriz, Rudsar, and Kerman torched images of Khomeini and Ali Khamenei, the current Supreme Leader, in public.

On the same day, in other places of Tehran and cities such as Urmia, Khoramshahr, Robat Karim (Tehran), and Kashan members of the Resistance Units installed banners and handwritten posters on walls that read: “Down with Khamenei, damn Khomeini,” and “Down with the principle of the Supreme Leader’s rule.”

On Saturday, May 30, a Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) Basij base was torched by the brave youths of Nishabur. Basij, a subsidiary of the terrorist-designated Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), is the Iranian regime’s paramilitary force and the most hated suppressive group that is used to crack down on protests and demonstrations such as the November nationwide uprising.

Also on Saturday, in various public places of Tehran, Isfahan, Qazvin, Karaj, and Ahwaz, the supporters of the MEK and the members of the Resistance Units spread the slogans such as “Down with Khamenei and Rouhani, Viva Rajavi” and “Khamenei’s rule will be overthrown.”

On Friday and Thursday, two IRGC bases in Isfahan, a banner of a religious propaganda center for the spread of fundamentalism in Garmsar, and a banner of Qassem Soleimani in Quchan were torched by the defiant and rebellious youths of these cities. Qassem Soliemani, was the commander of the IRGC Quds Force and head of the mullahs’ extraterritorial terrorist attacks, and was killed in Iraq on January 3 by a U.S. drone airstrike. Soleimani specifically supervised attacks against the PMOI/MEK during the years of their stay in Iraq. These ruthless attacks, many against defenseless and unarmed MEK members, were carried out by Iranian regime proxy groups under Soleimani’s command. For his direct role in suppression and terrorism and a criminal record, Soleimani is widely hated by the Iranian people.

Background

Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi based his strategy on “resistance units” inside Iran, with the objective of establishing units inside the society and forming a bond between the files of this revolution with the ranks seen in the central core of this movement, being the PMOI/MEK.

The PMOI/MEK and the organized Iranian Resistance movement are realizing the overthrow of the mullahs’ regime. The Iranian Resistance Units played a key role and had a major impact on nationwide uprisings of December 2017 and November 2019 that shook the Iranian regime in its entirety. This brave and young generation is an extension of the more than 120,000 MEK members who have sacrificed their lives for freedom in more than five decades and are realizing the overthrow of the mullahs’ regime.
