Iran, March 22, 2021—The supporters and sympathizers of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) inside Iran celebrated Nowruz across the country and pledged to continue the struggle to overthrow the mullahs’ regime in the coming year.
The internal network of the MEK, known as the Iranian Resistance Units, installed banners and posters of the Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi and the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) Maryam Rajavi, in Tehran. “We will free our country from the mullahs,” and “The new year heralds the freedom spring in Iran,” the slogans read.
Elsewhere, in Tehran, Isfahan, Mashhad, Tabriz, Karaj, Rasht, Kerman, Zanjan, Suma Sara, Urmia, Khuzestan, and Shahriar, the Resistance Units spread slogans that echoed Iranian people’s desire for regime change. They spread slogans such as “A victorious Nowruz by overthrowing the mullahs,” “Onward toward change” and “May this year be the year of uprisings that will overthrow the regime.”
Also, as an Iranian tradition, the Resistance Units commemorated the thousands of martyrs fallen for freedom in the last 40 years of struggle against mullahs’ dictatorship. They paid an especial tribute to 1500 brave young men and women who were gunned down during the November 2019 nationwide protests for having stood up for freedom and democracy.
The MEK supporters also sent many video messages where they expressed their support for the MEK and its leadership, despite the regime’s heavy punishment of support for the MEK.
“Damn Khamenei. We will celebrate Nowruz together with Massoud and Maryam Rajavi, the MEK, and the martyrs of the Iran protests,” said a member of the Resistance Units from Rasht.
Another MEK supporter from a Tehran said in a video message: “I’m a member of the Resistance Units. Hail to all freedom fighters in Iran. I wish happy Nowruz to all my compatriots, especially to the MEK. We wish a free Iran, and down with the mullahs’ regime.”
Also, from Mashhad, a member of the Resistance Units wished a happy Nowruz 1400 to all MEK members in Ashraf 3 and said: “Let’s hope that it will be the year of the mullahs’ overthrow, so that next year we can live in a free Iran.”
The continued activities of MEK Resistance Units highlight their leading role in protests and uprisings across Iran.
Messages by political prisoners
Political prisoners of Tehran’s notorious Evin prison, central prison of Karaj, and central prison of Urmia sent greeting messages for Nowruz and pledge to “struggle with high spirits until the overthrow of the mullahs.”
In their messages, the political prisoners sent their best wishes for the new year to Iranian Resistance leaders Massoud and Maryam Rajavi and said, “The message of Nowruz is that the light overcomes evil and even in the darkest days, Nowruz had always had a message of joy, happiness and prosperity and a renewal pledge and will for change.”
These messages are while these prisoners are under severe psychological and physical torture. Many of them are undergoing extended imprisonment sentences on charges of supporting the MEK.
