Iran, February 21, 2021—Images and posters of the Iranian Resistance leaders have covered various cities. In recent days, the internal network of the Iranian opposition, the Resistance Units, continued its activities checkered across the country.
The Resistance Units is the network of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) inside Iran.
In Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, Mashhad, Tabriz, Zahedan, Ramsar, Kerman, Jahrom, Shadegan, Rasht, Khorramabad, Rudsar, and Anzali, anti-regime slogans were posted on the walls, targeting regime’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei and his suppressive force the Revolutionary Guard (IRGC).
In various cities, the Resistance Units installed posters of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi and Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). This is while the regime punishes any form of support for the MEK with heavy sentences.
It is worth mentioning that recently the mullahs’ regime sentenced many MEK supporters to long prison sentences. On February 8, political prisoners Zahra Safaei and her daughter Parastoo Moeini were sentenced to eight- and six-year prison terms, respectively.
Also, In Tehran, two posters read “We will take back Iran from the mullahs,” and “Destiny will be written by Iran’s brave and rebellious generation.”
In other cities the Resistance Units bravely took to graffiti echoing slogans, “Rise up to overthrow the mullahs’ regime,” “Down with Khamenei, hail to Rajavi,” “Khamenei and Rouhani must face justice for the crime against humanity,” and “Khamenei is a murderer, and his rule is illegitimate.”
In the current circumstances of Iran’s society, where people struggle with the regime’s repression and corruption, the activities of the Resistance Units spark hope and courage to rise up and overthrow the mullahs. Iran’s society is in an explosive state, due to extremely poor economic conditions, skyrocketing prices, institutionalized government corruption, the regime's disregard and negligence of the coronavirus crisis, and the all-out suppression of all freedoms.
In the last two and half years, five nationwide uprisings took place in Iran and many regime officials have warned that the society’s rage is fire under the ashes. Also, many regime officials, including Ali Khamenei, have acknowledged MEK’s growth and expansion of activities inside Iran in the past two years. The MEK’s internal network has been the driving force of protests and they played a leading role in the uprisings of January 2018, November 2019, and January 2020.
