Iran’s regime emphasizes on crackdown against PMOI/MEK resistance units

Iran, Sept. 4, 2018 – Gholam-Hossein Gheibparvar, commander of the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards Bassij, said there will be drills conducted by his forces soon.

He also referred to the fact that the IRGC Bassij has launched patrols in people’s neighborhoods for seven or eight months now, setting up protection for checkpoints as the public appears to become sensitive about checkpoints.

“We have begun a series of plans to upgrade the IRGC Bassij… we have not rounded up our patrols and we believe our patrols are more effective than checkpoints. More recently, these Bassij patrols have been dubbed as the Razavioun network,” he said to the regime’s media.

Gheibparvar specifically said the main purpose of these patrols is “to provide security,” adding a plan dubbed the “Service & Security Epic” is being implemented by the IRGC Bassij.

Each and every word and sentence of the IRGC Bassij commander indicates these patrols are intended to confront popular protests and identify active elements of these protesters by the regime’s Bassij spies in various neighborhoods.

His remarks also shed light on the regime’s utter concern and fear of increasing protests and the very possibility of another uprising similar to that of the Dec/Jan episode that mushroomed to over 140 cities across the country.

The IRGC and Bassij played an active role in suppressing the Dec/Jan uprising, killing more than 50 protesters and arresting at least 8,000 people.

This is not the first time Iranian regime officials are launching neighborhood patrols.

IRGC commander Mohammad Ali Jafari described the launching of these patrols as “providing service to the people” and “wherever there is a problem (for the regime) the Bassij will be focusing on that issue,” he said.

Iranians on social media are mirroring these repressive plans to those implemented by the mullahs’ regime in the 1980s to crackdown the PMOI/MEK.

These concerns, voiced by Iranian regime officials, also indicate their measures to this day have failed in silencing the Iranian people’s protests.

This regime’s days are numbered, especially as the PMOI/MEK expand their network inside Iran by forming more resistance units in cities and towns throughout the country.
