Iran, November 2019—Supporters of the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) celebrated “Cyrus the Great” day on October 29 with slogans of, “Neither Shah, nor the mullahs”, “Death to reactionary forces” and “Death to dictatorship” in cities checkered across Iran. Cyrus the Great was an ancient king of Persia known for liberating the Jews and the historic city of Babylon in modern-day Iraq.

In Bandar Anzali, northern Iran, PMOI/MEK supporters held a large image of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi with a line reading, “Hail to Rajavi – Viva Freedom!”
In Qaemshahr, also in northern Iran, members of Resistance Units, a network affiliated directly to the PMOI/MEK, raised a sign reading, “Cyrus, Mosaddegh, we will fight, we may die, but we’ll retake Iran.” Mosaddegh is in reference to Mohammad Mosaddegh, Iran’s last democratically elected prime minister back in the 1950s.
In Hamedan, western Iran, PMOI/MEK supporters put up a sign with images of Mr. Rajavi and Mosaddegh reading, “Death to reactionary forces; Death to dictatorship; Hail to Rajavi.”
In Shahr-e Kord, central Iran, resistance units members also put up numerous images of Mr. Rajavi and Mosaddegh.
In Gachsaran, southern Iran, and Behbahan, southwest Iran, PMOI/MEK supporters were seen putting up numerous images of Cyrus the Great and Mosaddegh to commemorate this day.
In the cities of Mashhad, Jahrom, Khorramshahr and Tehran, resistance units members were seen putting up various signs marking this day and pledging to continue their struggle against the mullahs’ regime.
In Tankabon, Shiraz, Ardabil and Isfahan, PMOI/MEK supporters took to graffiti and putting up various signs to celebrate this occasion.
In the cities of Isfahan, Yazd, Tehran, Shiraz and Mashhad, members of resistance units also took to graffiti and wrote numerous anti-regime slogans across these two cities.
In Tehran, Isfahan, Khorramshahr and Khorasan, PMOI/MEK supporters put up various signs in commemoration of the struggles of Cyrus the Great and Mossadegh, along with anti-regime slogans such as, “Death to Khamenei,” referring to Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
In Saveh, Shahre- Kord, Gilan, Karaj, Khuzestan-Ramshir and Bandar Abbas, resistance units members were also seen commemorating this occasion in various methods.
In Shiraz, Sabzevar, Isfahan, Souran Baneh, Ghaderabad in Fars Province and Karaj, PMOI/MEK members resorted to various methods to commemorate this day and reiterate their determination to overthrow the mullah’s regime.
In Shiraz, Sahand in East Azerbaijan Province, Khuzestan, Khorramshahr, Khuzestan and Tehran, resistance units members took to graffiti and put up signs reading various anti-regime slogans.
