Iran, August 6, 2018 – Sunday marked the sixth consecutive day of a new wave of protests throughout Iran despite massive repressive measures by authorities.
Youth in Tehran’s Enghelab (Revolution) Street were seen in hit-and-run skirmishes against authorities, setting fire to large trash canisters on this road and throwing Molotov cocktails.
Youths in Tehran’ South Karegar Street and City Theater also staged demonstrations against the regime, daring to stand in the face of security forces.
Officials responded by dispatching anti-riot units to the scene where the vicious forces attacked the demonstrators. Protesters responded by setting trash canisters on fire.
The city of Kazerun in southern Iran, known for its major rallies back in May, became the latest city joining the nationwide protests. Locals were seen demonstrating in the city’s Shohada Square and chanting anti-government slogans.
This new round of protests and demonstrations becomes all the more significant as the United States begins imposing its first round of sanctions against the Iranian regime on Monday.
