Iran: Protest responding to death of a family of three

Reported by PMOI/MEK

Iran, June 27, 2019 – People and residents of Saravan, Zahedan province, southeast of Iran, rallied on Wednesday protesting the heinous and tragic death of a family of three during a shootout by repressive state security forces.

The incident happened when regime security forces were in pursuit of a car carrying fuel to be sold elsewhere.

The protesters who had gathered outside the office of the local governor said the repressive forces on Wednesday morning were in pursuit of a pickup truck carrying a number of barrels of fuel in the Ghafurabad area of Saravan.

The security forces opened fire at the truck to stop it. That is when the pickup truck lost control and hit a Peugeot passenger car carrying a young family of three. The accident caused a large fire burning to death the occupants of the passenger car.

This incident outraged the locals, leading to families taking to the streets and condemning the authorities for being trigger happy and so careless.

As the protest and demonstration got larger, security authorities got worried that this would turn into a larger protest and an uprising. The police dispatched anti-riot guards units to disperse the crowd.

The mullahs’ ruling Iran have a history of oppression against the Baluchi minority community and specifically opening fire on locals.
