Defying repression, MEK Resistance Units increase activities ahead of November 2019 protests anniversary

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, November 14, 2020—In recent weeks, the Resistance Units, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) network inside Iran, organized various anti-regime campaigns across the country marking the first anniversary of Iran’s nationwide uprising in November 2019.

On Thursday, November 12, the Iranian Resistance Units took to graffiti in major cities including Tehran, Mashhad, Tabriz, Ahvaz, Ardabil, Karaj, and Kermanshah, writing slogans: “Be prepared for the anniversary of the November 2019 uprising,” “The November uprising continues,” “The mullahs must fear, a revolt and an uprising are approaching,” “We remember the martyrs fallen for freedom during November 2019 protests,” and “Rise up to overthrow the regime of the Supreme Leader.”

Despite the intensified repression by the regime, the Resistance Units bravely risked their lives by writing these slogans in major cities.

In Tehran and Mashhad, the Resistance Units, installed two banners of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi and President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) Maryam Rajavi reading in part, “Tulips grew from the blood of the homeland’s youth (Famous Iranian poem),” and  “Martyrs are alive among us.”

It is worth to remind that in Iran supporting the MEK is seen as an act against state security and the sentence is imprisonment and execution.

Especially in Tehran, these activities are very courageous because they are taking place against the threat of the heavy presence of security forces in the city streets.

In Tabriz, Karaj, and Kermanshah the Resistance Units honored the 1500 martyrs of the November 2019 nationwide uprising, pledging to continue the struggle for a free and democratic Iran.

The Iranian Resistance Units activities have had a major impact on  the Iranian society and youths and have played a major role in defeating the regime’s goal of causing terror and fear in the public, as many regime’s officials have acknowledged. The MEK Resistance Units played a major role in organizing and leading the protests. Through their tremendous efforts, the Resistance Units have gathered the names and pictures of more than 800 of the 1500 martyrs.

The Iranian society no more fears suppression

During the last year, the MEK’s network supporters and activists who have been leading anti-regime activities kept the flame of uprising alive against the atmosphere of fear imposed by the regime.

In the meantime, the Iranian people are not questioning whether this regime should go but are preparing for the next spark and opportunity to overthrow Iran’s tyrants.

Many suppressive regime centers targeted by Iranian youths in different cities confirm the society's change of atmosphere. On Wednesday, November 11, the rebellious and defiant youths targeted three Basij bases in Ahvaz, Homayounshahr (Isfahan), and Sabzevar (Khoshab). The Basij are the most hated suppressive paramilitary force inside Iran and a subsidiary of the terrorist designated Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). Its main role is to preserve the mullahs’ rule through repressive measures against protests and demonstrations. The Basij played a deadly role in quelling the November 2019 protests and are part of the regime’s new plan to increase repressive measures during the uprising anniversary.

In Tehran, the brave and rebellious youths torched a regime center used to spread the mullahs’ fundamentalist ideology. These are suppressive centers of the regime’s espionage against the youth and women and are much hated by the people.

Also, in Ghale Tol, the defiant youths set light to a huge banner of regime’s founder Ruhollah Khomeini as a symbolic act against the clerical regime in its entirety.
