Iran, October 24, 2020—While the Iranian regime has intensified security measures over concerns of a new wave of nationwide protests, members of Iranian Resistance Units, the internal network of the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), continue their expanding activities checkered across the country calling for regime change and overthrowing the mullahs.

They commemorated the martyrs of the November 2019 nationwide uprising that erupted after the regime tripled gasoline prices. During these major protests, the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and Basij forces gunned down more than 1,500 protesters, according to information tallied by the MEK network, which was later confirmed by Reuters.

Resistance Units members also held up signs and took to graffiti with anti-regime slogans. They installed banners and posters of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi and President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) Maryam Rajavi in various cities.

Resistance Units members also hailed Madam Rajavi's decades of struggle for the Iranian people’s freedom, justice, and gender equality with the slogan, “Maryam Rajavi is the voice of justice and freedom in Iran…A free Iran with Maryam Rajavi.”

In recent weeks, the regime has been ratcheting up repressing measures against youths to prevent another round of nationwide anti-government protests. All the while, Resistance Units are continuing thier activities aimed at breaking the climate of fear and silence imposed by the regime.

In addition to Tehran, these activities were carried out in the cities of Isfahan, Shiraz, Karaj, Tabriz, Bandar Abbas, Esfarāyen, Homayoun Shahr, Juybar, Neka, Zanjan, Yasuj, Shahriar, Dorud, Saveh, Rasht, Arak, Zahedan, Hamadan, Urmia, Chaboksar, and Kashan.

Their slogans read:

“In memory of the Nov. 2019 uprising martyrs”

“In memory of Navid Afkari [heroic Iranian figure executed by the regime] and November 2019 uprising martyr”

“Navid Afkari, we will follow your path”

“Khamenei is a murderer, and his rule is illegitimate”

“Down with the mullahs’ rule”

“Down with Khamenei, Viva freedom”

“Down with Khamenei, Viva Rajavi”

“A free Iran with Maryam Rajavi”

“Democracy and freedom with Maryam Rajavi. Maryam Rajavi is the symbol of a free Iran.”

“Justice, freedom, and the people’s sovereignty with Maryam Rajavi”

“Democracy and freedom with Maryam Rajavi”

“Maryam Rajavi is the voice for justice and freedom in Iran…A free Iran with Maryam Rajavi”

These activities also show the growing popularity of the MEK inside Iran despite the regime’s ongoing efforts to demonize the Resistance.

In recent days, the rebellious and defiant youth of Iran have targeted the regime’s suppressive centers, including four IRGC Basij bases in the cities of Tehran, Karaj, and Rasht. The Basij are the most hated suppressive paramilitary force inside Iran and a subsidiary of the terrorist-designated IRGC. Its main role is to preserve the mullahs’ rule through crackdown measures against protests and demonstrations, such as the nationwide November 2019 uprising.

The brave and rebellious youths also torched images, banners, and posters of regime’s founder Ruhollah Khomeini and supreme leader Ali Khamenei in Tehran, Karaj, Kashan, and Shahr-e Rey.

Especially in Tehran, these activities are very courageous due to the large number of security forces dispatched the city streets.
