A third Covid-19 wave in is in the making, said regime President Hassan Rouhani during a Saturday meeting with the National Covid-19 Task Force. “Today we are facing circumstances similar to those of the [1980s Iran-Iraq War]. When a large number of cases are witnessed in one location, that area can be tantamount to a very dangerous border area similar to conditions we witnessed in the battlefields,” he claimed. “If we neglect the instructions, yes, there will be a third wave,” Rouhani added, going on to ridiculously claim that holding college entrance exams and even taking such exams in hospitals “are great measures that I don’t think any other country has carried out such coordinated measures with such care!”

“More than 16,000 different medical professionals have at least once been diagnosed with coronavirus during the past few months and this statistic is rising with each passing day,” said Hossein Karimpour, head of the regime’s Medical Council Public Relations Office, on Saturday.

Misleading remarks and measures by senior regime officials have led to grave concerns among Iran’s medical professionals. “This type of behavior has further fatigued our medical society… We all know that we have a tough battle ahead of us in the fall season. Not only were we defeated in the first battle, we may not have the right approach in the second battle, and these restrictions and lifting the restrictions may once again lead to an increase in the number of cases,” he added, according to the regime’s official IRNA news agency.

“The number of Covid-19 cases among our medical professionals is very high. Our colleagues are extremely fatigued,” said Alireza Salimi, head of the Iran Anesthesia Association, on Saturday. “I have seen many difficult scenes. In one instance, three of my anesthesia professionals, all suffering from Covid-19, were hospitalized next to each other in an ICU section. I will never forget that scene,” he added, according to IRNA.

“During the second Covid-19 wave on some days the death count in Tehran reached 120. This peak was horrific for us,” said Nahid Khodakarami, head of the Tehran City Council Health Commission, on Saturday. “After this month’s annual religious ceremonies, we may witness a new rise in numbers. Currently in most families there are numerous Covid-19 cases or deaths. If we witness a new rise in Covid-19 cases due to the current religious ceremonies, this wave will be far more intense than the current wave,” she added, according to the Moj news agency.

“Currently we have 356 Covid-19 patients hospitalized, of which 65 are in dire conditions,” said the dean of Qom Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the Fars news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

“The Covid-19 death rate is increasing in the city of Neyshabur,” said the dean of the Neyshabur Medical Sciences University on Saturday. This city is located in Razavi Khorasan province in northeast Iran. “On Friday, with 106 Covid-19 deaths, we witnessed the highest such numbers during the past few months. The virus’ spread is out of control,” he added, according to the Fars news agency.

“Following the first peak we became naive and began neglecting the existing threats,” said the head of the ICU branch in the Imam Reza Hospital of Mashhad, located in northeast Iran. “Covid-19 caused many casualties in its second attack. Our medical staff was tired because they had been working extensive for four straight months and 30 percent of the medical staff had been contaminated with the virus, in effect forcing them to stop their practice. During mid to late June we entered another war against Covid-19,” he added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.
