“The provinces of Khuzestan, West Azerbaijan, Hormozgan, Kurdistan, and Sistan & Baluchistan are considered code red zones. The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients is increasing in the provinces of Tehran, Razavi Khorasan, and Bushehr,” said the regime’s Health Ministry spokesperson Sima Sadat Lari. According to the regime’s officials figures, 113 people lost their lives to the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

During the “week leading to June 12, a second peak began emerging in 14 provinces, including Hormozgan, Lorestan, Kurdistan, East Azerbaijan, Ardabil, Northern Khorasan, Qazvin, Markazi (Central), Yazd, Alborz, Hamedan, Mazandaran, Golestan, and Kerman,” according to a report published by the Health Ministry’s Epidemiology Committee on Sunday and wired by the regime’s ISNA news agency.

“Aside from three cities, in other areas safety levels have reduced to 30 percent, and in rural areas—consisting of 30 percent of the country’s population—safety levels have decreased to below ten percent,” said Reza Malekzadeh, Research Deputy in the regime’s Health Ministry on Monday, according to the regime’s ILNA news agency. “The provinces of West Azerbaijan, Hormozgan, Khuzestan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, Sistan & Baluchistan, and Bushehr are in code red conditions… The possibility of second and even third wave is under serious discussion, and with each wave, there will be fatalities.”

COVID-19 was never gone for it to be returning once again. It had not even deteriorated… Currently, we are facing a new wave of numbers,” said Massoud Mardani, a member of the regime’s National COVID-19 Task Force, on Sunday, according to the Mehr news agency.

“The second coronavirus wave has begun, and we will have a high number of cases and deaths,” said Minoo Mohraz, another member of the regime’s National COVID-19 Task Force, on Sunday, according to a state-run outlet.

“With each passing hour conditions in the city of Bandar Abbas will be increasingly deteriorating. Mismanagement can lead to an irrecoverable catastrophe and place the lives of thousands of civilians in [Hormozgan] province and the city of Bandar Abbas in serious danger,” said a member of the Bandar Abbas City Council on Sunday, according to the ILNA news agency. “Bandar Abbas is lost and there is not a single family without grief or concern. If they don’t have any [medical staff], they need to bring some from other provinces.”

The caretaker of the sanitary center of Jondishapur Medical Sciences University in Khuzestan province said, “Of the 29,000 coronavirus tests that were taken in Ahvaz, 11,000 have gone missing,” according to Asr-e Iran website. The state-run Borna news agency quoted the dean of Abadan Medical Sciences University as saying, “The capacity of Ayatollah Taleghani hospital has been filled for a whole week. Presently we have around 300 patients who need hospitalization. Regretfully, the authorities of the oil company have refrained from admitting patients to the Khomeini hospital… The situation is much worse than what people think. In the past days, we’ve seen an increase in the number of patients in critical conditions. Presently, most of our bedridden patients are of a young age, and they’re being hospitalized with bad health conditions. In Abadan, we’re in extremely red conditions and no restrictions should be lifted in this area. If the situation continues, our treatment centers will not be able to respond to the needs of the people.”

According to Borna News Agency, the medical sciences university in Western Azerbaijan province declared: “The greatest number of hospitalized patients was 467 persons on April 4. But on June 13, we had 564 hospitalized patients.”

Asr-e Iran quoted the deputy governor of Zanjan province as saying, “The ratio of infection in Zanjan has reached one for every 24 people. The counties of Zanjan and Khorramdarreh are among the red zones.”

The spokesperson of the Coronavirus Task Force in Kermanshah said, “We’ve asked the governors of three counties including Javanrud to shut down cemeteries and prevent people from entering these sites.” (Source: ISNA, June 15)

Regarding the situation in Sistan and Baluchestan province, Asr-e Iran website wrote on Monday: “Coronavirus has hit the most impoverished province of the country. This is a place where the sanitary protocols of Tehran are not applicable. We need a new recipe. For instance, telling people to regularly wash their hands is funny. There’s no water to regularly wash hands.”
