Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, October 18, 2021—Over 459,500 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Monday afternoon local time, October 18. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 124,256 around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 107,606 in Tehran, 37,700 in Razavi Khorasan, 31,180 in Isfahan, 28,170 in Khuzestan, 16,950 in Mazandaran, 16,808 in West Azerbaijan, 16,665 in Fars, 16,040 in Gilan, 16,033 in East Azerbaijan, 13,538 in Alborz, 12,257 in Kerman, 7735 in Hormozgan, 7558 in Yazd, 7357 in Kurdistan, 5199 in Qazvin, and 3485 in Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Monday as 181 deaths and 11,844 new cases. Furthermore, 1804 patients are in ICUs and 4693 of the new cases have been hospitalized.

“Despite the fact that there has been much talk about vaccination, and we are witnessing an increasing number of people being vaccinated, it is still too early for us to talk about normal epidemic conditions or think about celebrating the end of this epidemic. In the provinces of West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, and some parts of Sistan & Baluchistan conditions are somewhat concerning. It appears we will have new variants in the country,” said Hamid Souri, epidemiologist, to the semi-official ISNA news agency on Monday.

“A 51 percent increase in the number of new cases in comparison to yesterday is a warning sign of the possible start of the sixth peak… The provinces of West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, and some parts of Sistan & Baluchistan are fully prone to establishing large clusters in the new peak,” according to a report wired Monday by the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

“During the past 24 hours 339 new coronavirus cases have been identified in Qazvin province. This shows a 160 percent increase and 209 more cases than the day before. Furthermore, the death toll has increased by 20 percent in comparison to yesterday,” said the dean of Qazvin Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the Tasnim news agency.

“The beginning of the sixth wave in late October is quite possible… Unfortunately, we must wait for a catastrophe, of which the result will be hundreds of more lives lost among the residents of [Mazandaran] province by mid-December,” said the deputy dean of Mazandaran Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

In Lorestan province, an increase in the number of people being hospitalized indicates a slow rise of the coronavirus to the sixth peak in this province. Officials are saying the lambda variant could be spreading in Lorestan. The number of coronavirus patients being hospitalized are more than those being released, and this new peak will most definitely be dangerous, according to a report wired Monday by the regime's official IRNA news agency.

On Monday the dean of Ilam Medical Sciences University reported a 15 percent increase in the number of coronavirus patients hospitalized during the past week, adding this is a warning that the province may witness the sixth peak in the coming weeks, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“The number of patients hospitalized in medical centers across [Golestan] province has significantly increased. This has been causing concern about a new rise in the virus that leads to a new peak,” according to a report wired Monday by the Tasnim news agency.

“It is forecasted that the next peak will begin around October 30,” said the dean of Ahvaz Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the Mehr news agency.
