Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, October 15, 2021—Over 457,100 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Friday afternoon local time, October 15. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 123,698 around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 107,046 in 37,540 in Razavi Khorasan, 30,970 in Isfahan, 28,030 in Khuzestan, 16,905 in Mazandaran, 16,678 in West Azerbaijan, 16,545 in Fars, 15,993 in East Azerbaijan, 15,980 in Gilan, 13,508 in Alborz, 12,900 in Sistan & Baluchistan, 7312 in Kurdistan, 5169 in Qazvin, and 4370 in Zanjan. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Friday as 197 deaths and 11,857 new cases, of which 1591 were hospitalized. Furthermore, 4924 patients are in ICUs.

“We are facing a large number of people seeking medical care on a monthly basis. It is estimated that around 3000 physicians are leaving the country each year. This is an alarm bell for our officials. Most of our health professionals are living in poor conditions. The Health Ministry is refusing to provide insurance for interns and residents,” said the deputy head of the regime’s Medical Apparatus Organization on Friday, according to the semi-official ILNA news agency.

“Despite all the warnings issues, we are currently witnessing the illness among some of the people who are returning from a recent pilgrimage in Iraq. The virus is spreading very fast across the country and the number of new cases is high. Each day 12,000 to 13,000 new positive cases are registered, and of course, this may not be precise. Anyhow, until vaccination reaches a certain adequate percentage, we will have new waves. Furthermore, any rush into reopening, such as stores, schools, universities, and… should not result in more waves in the future,” said the head of the Virology Research Center at Beheshti Medical Sciences University on Friday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Since the beginning of this week to this day we have witnessed an increase in the number of people seeking initial medical care. Unfortunately, during the past two days the number of people being hospitalized has increased. The sixth peak will probably begin before the fifth peak finishes. This is concerning, especially considering the fatigue among our health professionals,” according to a statement released on Friday by the Markazi Medical Sciences University.

“Based on the latest status quo as explained by health officials, the numbers of people being hospitalized in the coronavirus quarantined section and the ICU are on the rise once again. Currently, the patients in our ICUs are in dire conditions considering their poor lung status and low oxygen levels. If these conditions continue in the coming days we will once again witness more deaths,” said the director of the Sardasht Health Network in West Azerbaijan province on Friday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“During the past 24 hours 261 new coronavirus patients have been registered, indicating a 73 case increase in the comparison to the day before. Furthermore 348 patients were hospitalized in medical centers across Kermanshah province to receive Remdesivir injections. This shows a 102 case increase in comparison to the prior day,” according to a Friday report issued by the Kermanshah Medical Sciences University.

“During the past 24 hours 325 new patients were hospitalized across [Fars] province. We currently have 1910 people hospitalized of which 187 are in ICUs,” said the deputy dean of Shiraz Medical Sciences University on Friday, according to the regime’s official IRIB news agency.

“Of the 340 trillion rials spent annually in the country for medicine, around 250 trillion rials, meaning close to 80 percent cannot be tracked. Medicine literally leaves the distribution network through this hole. The Deputy Health Ministry is not cooperating adequately to register information in the official software. No representative from this ministry even takes part in meetings involved in evaluating the reason behind this depletion of medicine from the distribution network,” according to a Friday piece published by the state-run Doniyay-e Eghtesad (World of Economics) daily.
