Iran coronavirus update: Over 437,400 deaths, full vaccination may take 7-10 months

Iran, September 24, 2021—Over 437,400 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Friday afternoon local time, September 24. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 118,792 around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 102,656 in Tehran, 35,825 in Razavi Khorasan, 29,070 in Isfahan, 26,786 in Khuzestan, 16,445 in Mazandaran, 15,679 in Fars, 15,533 in West Azerbaijan, 15,433 in East Azerbaijan, 15,265 in Gilan, 12,813 in Alborz, 12,005 in Qom, 11,607 in Kerman, 7988 in Markazi (Central), 7764 in Kermanshha, 7460 in Hormozgan, 7268 in Yazd, 6040 in Semnan, 5654 in North Khorasan, 5515 in Ardabil, 4819 in Qazvin, and 3831 in South Khorasan. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Friday as 284 deaths and 15,294 new cases, of which 2161 were hospitalized. Furthermore, 6502 patients are in ICUs.

“Currently we have 56 patients who contracted the black fungus illness hospitalized in the Loghman, Amir Alam, Rasoul-e Akram and Khomeini hospitals. 6200 coronavirus patients are hospitalized across Tehran. Of the 1340 new coronavirus patients hospitalized, 201 are in ICUs,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Friday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“Conditions in [Isfahan’s Amin] hospital are not good. We have yet to make any beds available for non-coronavirus patients. All hospital beds remain allocated for coronavirus patients, and we are placing our entire medical staff, equipment, and supplies at the disposal of coronavirus patients,” said the head of this hospitals on Friday, according to the Mehr news agency.

“We have 2810 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 401 are in ICUs and 34 patients have lost their lives in the past 24 hours,” according to a statement released on Friday by the Isfahan and Kashan Medical Sciences universities.

 

 

The cities of Tabriz and Malekan remain red zones. East Azerbaijan is one of the five provinces that has “red” and “extremely dangerous” zones, and currently around 1700 coronavirus patients are hospitalized across the province, according to a Friday report wired by the according to the Mehr news agency.

“The status quo is fragile. Vaccination needs to reach 80 percent by November while we are at 27 percent right now,” said the deputy dean of Ahvaz Medical Sciences University on Friday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“There are 330 patients hospitalized as we speak, of which 70 are in ICUs, and 30 of them are in dire conditions,” said the dean of Golestan Medical Sciences University on Friday, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

 

 

“Currently we have 2391 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 249 are in ICUs,” said the deputy dean of Shiraz Medical Sciences University on Friday, according to the regime’s official IRIB news agency, adding 264 patients were hospitalized in the past 24 hours alone.

“It appears full vaccination will take seven to ten months, and this lengthening will prevent us from being able to overcome the current pandemic. One of the main concerns is that when our country runs into a problem, it becomes a long-term and chronic issue. Right now, we have Covid-19 that has arrived and is staying here. However, considering the fact that this issue threatens people’s lives, it truly differs from other dilemmas,” reads a Thursday piece published by the state-run Jahan-e San’at daily.
