Iran, August 18, 2021—Over 370,300 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Wednesday afternoon local time, August 18. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 99,691, around a fourth of the actual figure.
The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 87,196 in Tehran, 24,730 in Isfahan, 24,385 in Razavi Khorasan, 23,066 in Khuzestan, 14,390 in Mazandaran, 13,380 in Lorestan, 13,153 in West Azerbaijan, 12,992 in Fars, 12,335 in Gilan, 10,990 in Sistan & Baluchistan, 10,848 in Alborz, 9418 in Kerman, 8840 in Golestna, 6668 in Kermanshah, 6458 in Yazd, 6400 in Hormozgan, 4974 in North Khorasan, 4515 in Ardabil, 4134 in Qazvin, and 3708 in Ilam. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.
The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Wednesday as 583 deaths and 39,174 new cases. Furthermore, 7490 patients are in ICUs (new pandemic record) and 5380 of the new cases have been hospitalized.

“We have yet to reach the peak of this illness. There will be more coronavirus waves in the future. I am concerned about our health system and apparatus crumbling. Arguments do not resolve any issues,” said Health Minister Saeed Namaki on Wednesday, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.
“Each day 220,000 people are contracting Covid-19. The number of deaths per day will continue to rise for another three weeks. How ceremonies are held can be effective in controlling the illness,” said Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi on Wednesday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence & Security (MOIS).
“The country has reached a critical situation, meaning 45,000 patients are hospitalized across Iran and 35,000 are provided medical care in the ordinary branches of our hospitals. The provinces of Razavi Khorasan and Fars are continuing to report a rising trend. Some provinces are in fragile conditions and are heading towards even worse circumstances,” said Deputy Health Minister Ghasem Jan Babaie on Tuesday, according to the Tasnim news agency.

“During the past 24 hours in the country’s capital 190 people lost their lives to coronavirus,” according to a Tuesday report wired by the IRGC-linked Fars news agency.
“Three vaccination centers will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday (due to annual Muharram religious ceremonies),” according to a statement released on Wednesday by the Qom Medical Sciences University.
“In comparison to last year the number coronavirus patients hospitalized has increased by an average of ten-fold. Even in some cities and towns the number of people hospitalized has increased twenty-fold in comparison to last year,” said the governor of Ardabil province on Wednesday, according to the regime’s official IRNA news agency.
“During the past 24 hours 592 new patients have been hospitalized while 347 were released. 3368 patients are hospitalized across [Isfahan] province, of which 446 are in ICUs,” said the spokesperson of Isfahan Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the Mehr news agency.

“The coronavirus spread is quite critical and extremely dire. A new individual contracts the virus every 50 seconds. During the past 24 hours we have lost 22 patients,” said the dean of West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the regime’s semi-official ISNA news agency.
In Khuzestan province the deputy dean of Ahvaz Medical Sciences University said the number of new cases and those being hospitalized in Khuzestan have increased by 80 percent in comparison to two weeks ago. “This is while we have yet to reach the peak. A lockdown period of less than two weeks will have no significant impact,” this official said on Wednesday, according to the ISNA news agency.
“Coronavirus in Alborz province kills an individual every hour. We lost 24 patients in the past 24 hours,” said the dean of Alborz Medical Sciences University, according to the Mehr news agency.
“The number of people hospitalized in the cities and towns of Kermanshah is nearing the 900 mark. The fifth wave is becoming more and more difficult. The Covid-19 situation in the city of Kermanshah has become critical and quite dangerous,” said the governor of Kermanshah province on Wednesday, according to the ISNA news agency.
