Regime President Hassan Rouhani, who just a few weeks ago was claiming the coronavirus has been contained in Iran, has acknowledged on Thursday that the country has entered the fifth peak and various provinces are registered as red zones. “If the fifth peak is not confronted properly, we will be witnessing a steeper rise for a longer period than the previous waves,” he said.

Minoo Mohraz, a senior member of the National Covid-19 Task Force, said on Thursday that various cities are suffering from shortages in ICU beds and other equipment and supplies. “The third phase of the Iranian-Cuban vaccine was injected to some people and the project was supposed to be a joint venture. However, the Cuban ambassador said we do not have such a project. Cuba itself issued an emergency order to use this vaccine, adding that they and other South American countries are in more need of this vaccine, and they are in priority. Therefore, this project cannot be helpful at all,” she said on Thursday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Most of the cities of Tehran province and the metropolis area of Tehran itself are registered as red zones. The fifth peak is taking shape ever so faster and the number of people entering emergency care units in our hospitals is extremely high,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Thursday. “5600 coronavirus patients are hospitalized in 105 hospitals across the province. The number of people entering hospitals are not in line with those being released… Tehran province, especially he eastern and southeast parts of the province, are suffering from various problems and infrastructure shortages. They can be compared to some of the country’s poorest provinces,” he added, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“The delta variant has resulted in an increase in the number of people hospitalized and deaths due to Covid-19,” said the mayor of Eslamshahr on Thursday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Each day we have 200 patients hospitalized and 110 need ICUs. In the Mohammadi Hospital of Bandar Abbas all four ICU branches have reached their full capacities. The city of Bandar Abbas is registered as a hyper red zone, and the cities of Minab Bandar-e Lenge are also in critical conditions. Next week the death rate will be increasing,” said the dean of Hormozgan Medical Sciences University on Thursday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“The number of people hospitalized has not decreased at all. In total we currently have 450 patients in this hospital,” said the head of Razi Hospital in Ahvaz of Khuzestan province on Thursday. During the previous peak we had around 45 patients,” this official added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The death toll is in two digits and less than 20. However, the death toll will increase in the coming days since the number of people being hospitalized is on the rise. The number of people seeking initial medical care for Covid-19 has increased by 50 percent in comparison to three weeks ago,” said the deputy dean of Mashhad Medical Sciences University on Thursday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“During the past 24 hours we have had 1036 new coronavirus cases across Isfahan province, of which 268 were hospitalized, and only 139 were released from hospital,” said the spokesperson of Isfahan Medical Sciences University on Thursday, according to the Mehr news agency.

The number of coronavirus patients has risen significantly in the city of Babol. On June 27 we had 77 people hospitalized which was our lowest during the past five months. However, there are now 172, meaning a 150 percent increase, according to a Thursday report wired by IRNA.
