“We are in special coronavirus circumstances as we speak and on the path of the number of new cases rising. In this period, we have had issues that have helped and intensified the status quo,” said regime President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday. “We had the elections, the parties that they threw, the meals that some people would serve to large crowds, they were not at all in line with the health protocols,” he added. It is worth noting that on June 19, the day after the regime’s sham elections, Rouhani himself said: “I extend my gratitude to the Health Ministry for not allowing a new peak during this election season. The Health Ministry, and all the dear people involved in the fight against this virus, played an exceptionally large role in holding a magnificent election.”

“The fifth peak has begun in Iran. Around half of the provinces are reporting an increasing number of people being hospitalized for coronavirus and starting today more cities and towns will be registered as red zones,” according to a Health Ministry statement on Saturday.

“The Indian variant, or delta, has spread to various parts of the country. This virus is very capable in spreading fast and there will be more cases and people hospitalized,” said Alireza Raisi, spokesperson of the regime’s National Covid-19 Task Force on Saturday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“In the coming days and most likely for the next two weeks nearly all of Iran will be registered as red zones. Once again, we will be facing many patients and shortages in hospital beds. This time around, however, the threats of this new virus are far more dangerous,” said a health expert on Saturday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“The coronavirus spread has increased across [Tehran] province in comparison to last week. We are seeing more people seeking medical care and if this trend continues the number of patients hospitalized and those losing their lives will be increasing,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Saturday, according to the state-run Aftab daily.

In Sistan & Baluchistan province according to sources in various hospitals at least 60 people have lost their lives to Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. Most of those who have lost their lives have died before even reaching a hospital and their numbers are not registered anywhere. “It has been more than a week that the number of cases per day in Sistan & Baluchistan has been over 1200, and the number of Covid-19 deaths per day in this province are equal to the country of Pakistan that has a population of 220 million,” said the governor of Sistan & Baluchistan province on Saturday, according to the regime’s official IRIB news agency.

“According to locals, when there is no drinking water, coronavirus cannot be the people’s main concern. There are no empty beds in the hospitals. The number of Covid-19 deaths and new cases are breaking records, and the cemeteries are full of people. To redouble all these problems, the locals are facing blackouts and even water being cutoff,” according to a Saturday article in the state-run Iran daily. “There is only one hospital in an area that has a population of around 1.2 million, or for 800,000 others in the southern areas of this province there is only one hospital with 196 beds. A city with 50,000 people has two general physicians,” the article adds.

“Conditions in our hospitals are not adequate at all and if such circumstances continue providing medical services in these hospitals will be disrupted. The city of Bam is registered as a red zone,” said the mayor of Bam in Kerman province on Saturday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“The number of red zone cities has doubled and [Golestan] province is on the verge of becoming a critical situation. The alarm bell of the fifth peak in Goelstan province has sounded,” said the dean of Golestan Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.
