While medical universities are one after another warning about a fourth Covid-19 wave and an increase in the number of cases and deaths in the coming weeks, hesitation, excuses and lies from regime officials continue regarding the vaccine.

“No vaccine has been imported yet. However, I believe we will be among the first countries to finalize our vaccination process,” the spokesperson for the regime’s Food and Drug Organization said ridiculously in this regard on Wednesday,” according to the Javan daily, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

“There will be no [vaccine] imports until we are able to bring the most reliable and least dangerous vaccine into the country. We are still in talks so we can import the most effective vaccine,” claimed regime Health Minister Saied Namaki on Wednesday. “We are hoping to begin vaccination by February 10,” he added, saying regime officials are hoping to be able to begin using the joint vaccine being made with Cuba by mid-spring season, according to the semi-official ILNA news agency.

“During the past few weeks we have witnessed an increase in the number of coronavirus cases and deaths,” said the secretary of the Lorestan province Covid-19 task force on Wednesday, according to the IRGC-linked Fars news agency.

“Mazandaran province remains a red zone and the restrictions imposed have not been able to control this illness. Currently there are 1296 Covid-19 patients hospitalized, of which 285 are in ICUs,” according to a Wednesday report wired by the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Four percent of the country’s coronavirus deaths have been in Semnan province,” said the dean of Semnan Medical Sciences University on Tuesday while expressing concerns about a fourth wave in this province. “Semnan borders eight other provinces and the high volume of commuting has led to a severe rise in coronavirus in Semnan province,” this official added, according to the IRGC Quds Force-linked Tasnim news agency.

“Currently the illness is on a fixed trend and whenever this occurs it is very concerning,” said the spokesperson of the Isfahan Medical Sciences University on Wednesday. “Some reopening measures were made without proper planning. If neglect and normalization continue, we will witness a peak of this illness in the month February and March,” the official added, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“The number of coronavirus patients hospitalized in Golestan province stands at 373 and we are witnessing an increasing trend. However, these numbers have their ups and downs, indicating we have not been able to control this illness and there are some shortcomings,” said the deputy dean of Golestan Medical Sciences University on Wednesday. “Golestan remains in the third peak and a long time period is needed to exit this peak,” he added, according to the Mehr news agency.

“There are no white areas in [Kohgiluyeh] and the number of coronavirus patients is increasing by the minute,” said the head of the Kohgiluyeh Health Network on Wednesday. “Regional decisions made by some entities have accelerated Covid-19’s increasing trend. One cannot define a certain timetable for this virus,” this official added, according to the regime’s official IRNA news agency.
