“Right now, we are facing an overcrowding of patients in our hospitals. Every day several Covid-19 patients are in the emergency sections waiting for beds to empty. The moment that they are hospitalized new patients arrive and take their place in the emergency section,” said Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi on Thursday. “All our personnel are fatigued both physically and psychologically due to their work for more than seven months and seeing so many deaths. Furthermore, oxygen devices and CT scans have worked far more than their capacity during this period, and this is genuinely concerning,” he added, according to the semi-official ILNA news agency.

“Our status quo to address Covid-19 is not the level of an all-out war. The Medical Sciences University is fighting Covid-19 while extremely fatigued and in poor conditions,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Thursday. “Based on a poll 92 percent of all nurses are complaining about delays in their paychecks,” he added, according to the state-run Mehr news agency, an outlet affiliated to the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“The number of patients and those hospitalized have increased significantly. The number of patients hospitalized in the city of Urmia is at such critical numbers and beds in state hospitals are nearly full,” said the dean of West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University. “Patients are held in ambulances until a bed is freed and they are transferred to various sections inside the hospital. We have been forced to use a variety of hospitals not under the University’s umbrella to help in addressing the coronavirus crisis,” the official added, according to the Mehr news agency.

“The number of chronic patients in the city of Kashan has doubled. As a result, other sections of Kashan’s Beheshti Hospital have been allocated to Covid-19 patients,” said the deputy dean of Isfahan Medical Sciences University on Wednesday. “We need to stop the trend of turning ordinary beds into ICU beds,” the deputy dean added, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

“During the past 24 hours 60 patients have been hospitalized with coronavirus symptoms and seven have lost their lives. Currently more than 350 patients are hospitalized across the province, of which 60 are under ICUs,” said the deputy dean of Qazvin Medical Sciences University on Wednesday. “Eight patients are waiting for ICU beds to be cleared and 38 people are connected to respiratory devices,” the official added, according to the IRGC-linked Javan daily.

“Currently Alborz province is considered a red Covid-19 zone. Considering the fact that last week’s restrictive measures did not decrease the virus’ spread, we are forced to extend it from October 9th to the 16th,” said the governor of Alborz province on Thursday, according to the regime’s official IRNA news agency.

“The spread of coronavirus is increasing across Semnan province at an extremely fast pace. As a result, the one-week long restrictions will be extended from October 9th to the 16th,” said the governor of Semnan province on Wednesday, according to the Mehr news agency.
