Iran regime holds crowded ceremonies, to reopen schools during pandemic

Analysis by PMOI/MEK

Iran, September 2, 2020—According to reports, footage, and images received from various areas in Tehran and other provinces, the Muharram ceremonies and yearly mourning gathering for Hossein ibn Ali, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, were held without abiding by the announced health instructions. This inhumane and criminal act of the mullahs’ regime was seemingly systematic and organized and will have catastrophic consequences in the upcoming two weeks and further cause the spread of the coronavirus.

This is while previously, many medical experts and staff who are members of the Coronavirus Task Force committee had warned that following health instructions during Muharram mourning was impossible and that holding these events could cause hundreds of deaths.

The regime tried to gather more crowds by distributing free food and installing road blocks. The Iranian regime’s President Hassan Rouhani previously said that Muharram ceremonies should be held while following health instructions, but he recently thanked the clerics for issuing a fatwa for holding the yearly mourning gatherings at any cost.

While Hassan Rouhani, regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and other clerics insisted on holding Muharram ceremonies, none of them participated in any public mourning or gathering and even Khamenei ridiculously arranged an individual ceremony for himself.

The regime blames the people again

The regime knew that holding these ceremonies would have dangerous consequences for the people during the pandemic. This is why regime officials are fast busy spreading propaganda to prepare the ground to blame the third wave of COVID-19 and a new humanitarian catastrophe on anyone but themselves.

“Next week we will witness an increase in people seeking treatment for Covid-19. Two to three weeks later we will witness an increase in the number of people hospitalized, and four to six weeks later an increase in the number of deaths,” said Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi on Monday, according to Hamshahri daily.

“Due to the dense traveling in recent days in Tehran, we are forecasting a new Covid-19 peak prior to the coming of the fall season,” said Tehran Covid-19 Task Force chief Alireza Zali on Monday.

Reopening schools, a death warrant for students and their families

The regime not only organized mass gatherings of yearly Muharram mourning during the pandemic but also intends to reopen schools on Saturday, September 5. This is while many health experts have warned that by reopening schools, social distancing is not possible in dense classrooms and will cause an explosion of coronavirus infection. Reopening schools will not only hit the students but will also put their families at risk. “With the reopening of schools and other education centers, and an increase in traffic in the city of Tehran, there is a possibility of a rapid spread of coronavirus among families,” said Zali to the state-run Entekhab daily.

“If we do not act on time and people’s children contract coronavirus, I will not call this recklessness but a conscious and intentional murder,” said Abdolreza Mesri member of the Majlis (Parliament) to the state-run Etemad website on August 29.

The regime’s recent decisions to hold Muharram ceremonies, hold entrance exams, and reopen schools despite many warnings of doctors and medical experts are in line with their strategy of mass human casualties in the coronavirus crisis. Khamenei had earlier mentioned that he aims to turn the coronavirus threat into an opportunity, which meant to use it as a tool to maintain his hold on power.

But this strategy, which is based on spreading lies and propaganda, has failed due to daily information published by the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), obtained by its internal network.

As Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), earlier mentioned: “The unprecedented spike in Coronavirus across the country and the regrettable number of victims are entirely the results of criminal policies pursued by Khamenei and Rouhani. The current situation was both predictable and preventable. The Iranian Resistance and many domestic and foreign experts had warned about it repeatedly. This is a manifest case of crime against humanity. Overcoming Coronavirus, as is the case with overcoming poverty, high prices, and unemployment, as well as containing the destructive impact of flood and earthquake in contingent upon overthrowing the clerical regime and establishing people’s sovereignty, in which case all of our nation’s resources will be utilized for advancing and improving people’s lives.”
