Iran: “Coronavirus is like fire under the ashes”

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, April 17, 2020—The destructive policies adopted by the mullahs’ regime in Iran is the cause of an increasing number of coronavirus deaths and cases across the country while regime officials continue their unprecedented coverup. Even state-run outlets and officials are voicing concern and remarks contradictory the regime’s official stance on this catastrophe.

“During the ongoing COVID-19 crisis official are not taking into consideration that 43 million workers, retirees and their family members will not be able to continue with their lives considering their dismal wages,” according to the state-run ILNA news agency. “When a worker has no job security and is not a member of any organization, how can they ask for a raise? Our workers are entrapped in legal bureaucracy with no way out,” the report adds.

There are also remarks questioning the regime’s official coronavirus death toll and the number of cases in total. “Most certainly the actual coronavirus figures are more than the official figures. The fact that we have 800,000 people infected and many times the number of deaths announced is most certainly true,” said the Iranian regime’s Deputy Health Minister Alireza Raisi.

“Around 100 of hospital medical personnel, covered by the Mashhad Medical Science University, are infected with COVID-19,” said the head of this university in northeast Iran.

More regime officials are jumping on the concern train with similar remarks:

– Gilan Medical Science University spokesperson: “The novel coronavirus is like fire under the ashes. The virus’ chain reaction remains active across the province as we speak.”

– Iraj Hariirchi, Deputy Health Minister: “We will witness the COVID-19 peak in the fall season.”

– Qom Medical Science University dean: “The number of new cases entering our medical centers, especially the Kamkar Hospital in the city of Qom, and the number of such patients being hospitalized are once again on the rise… This is the result of lifting quarantine measures and neglecting hygiene regulations.”

All the while, regime President Hassan Rouhani insists on ordering people back to their jobs. “As the leader [Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei] insisted, this is the year of production surge, and hopefully this production line will continue in good fashion,” he said.

The state-run Arman daily wrote on the increasingly disturbing issue of child labor and children searching trash dumps in search of something to sell. “Considering the fact that municipality and Health Ministry officials are reporting a decreasing number of child laborers and those searching the trash in various cities due to the coronavirus outbreak, their commuting in major cities such as Tehran depicts a different picture than what is portrayed through such remarks. These children say we cannot stay at home because hunger is deadlier than COVID-19. You can’t stay home under quarantine with an empty stomach.”

This report adds, “We must accept the fact that the lower class, workers, various employees and even some people of the upper middle class of our society are currently under increasing economic pressures. If our lower class loses trust and hope in our ruling class, such pressures from the current coronavirus and the economic consequences can lead to dangerous results.”
