Iran, April 5, 2019 – More Iranians in flood areas of the country are protesting and complaining of not receiving adequate aid. Golestan Province was hit by floods more than two weeks ago and locals of western provinces such as Lorestan, Kermanshah, Ilam, and Khuzestan in the southwest are reporting not seeing a single official visit their cities, towns or villages. Anger is simmering and regime officials are becoming increasingly concerned.
Floodwaters have been reaching the town of Gurieh in Khuzestan Province, leading to officials and authorities issuing evacuation orders. A number of villages near this town have reportedly been engulfed by the recent floods.
Locals in the village of Seyed Abbas near the city of Shush in Khuzestan Province are also reporting floodwaters entering their homes and people evacuating their houses.
Khuzestan officials are estimating water pressure in the dams of this province to increase up to alarming proportions, reaching 3,500 cubic meters. Currently, 6 billion cubic meters of water has been collected in the storage tanks of Karkheh Dam. These numbers are above average and officials say they are taking measures considering the fact that floodwaters have still yet to arrive in this area.
The flood barriers erected at the Fahad village near the town of Shush are about to give in and conditions in this village are critical, reports indicate. Floodwaters, however, have already entered the streets of Razi Hamd village in this area.
In Lorestan Province, western Iran, head of the regime’s Red Crescent says the floods have not only engulfed cities and homes but literally all the infrastructure, including bridges and roads. Locals of the Bon Pahneh village near the town of Mamulan in Lorestan Province are literally sleeping under plastic sheets because their rooftops are leaking. They are in poor conditions and there is no sign of any aid, he added.
Reports indicate 20 villages located near Kashkan River in Lorestan Province have been completely engulfed and some villages destroyed to the ground. Many villages have yet to receive any aid, including tents, and the locals have been forced to seek refuge in nearby hilltops and even the mountains.

Roads linking the two cities of Mamulan and Poledokhtar in Lorestan Province remain blocked. At least 309 villages in Lorestan Province still have no electricity. The water pipe leading into the city of Poledokhtar has been damaged and locals are facing drinking water shortages.
In Khuzestan Province, at least 96 villages near the Dez, Karkheh, and Karun rivers have been completely evacuated.
Despite the mounting crisis, the weather forecast shows increasing rains on Friday for ten provinces in the country’s west and southwest regions. Villagers in these areas are gearing to evacuate their homes in fear of raging floodwaters.
