Iranian opposition “Resistance Units” torch regime icons

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, December 30, 2019—Members of the Iranian opposition “Resistance Units,” along with supporters of the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), are increasing their efforts across the country by specifically targeting and torching the regime’s icons. This campaign is considered a continuation and expansion of the unprecedented November uprising that is very much alive in the hearts and minds of Iranians throughout the country.

An expanding network in at least dozens of cities and towns checkered in all provinces of Iran are literally risking their lives to courageously pursue pro-resistance activities against the mullahs’ regime. Supporting the PMOI/MEK is considered a red line for the mullahs.

In Tehran, members of resistance units set fire to a regime center located on Sohrevardi Street of the country’s capital.

In Karaj, a major city west of Tehran, a site affiliated to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) paramilitary Basij was set ablaze on Ghezelhesar Avenue.

In Gachsaran, southwest Iran, resistance units members set fire to another IRGC paramilitary Basij base known to dispatch its forces to on crackdown missions against the public.

In Marand, northwest Iran, another IRGC paramilitary Basij base was set ablaze by resistance units members.

In another report from Karaj, an IRGC paramilitary Basij base was targeted and set on fire on Amir Kabir Boulevard adjacent to the local Tehran Park.

In other reports from Tehran, the entrance of a regime-affiliated center was also set ablaze.

In Shiraz, a city in south-central Iran that witnessed massive protests during the November uprising, a regime associated center used by local mullahs to promote their ideology was set ablaze. This further proves the Iranian people’s hatred of the mullahs’ reactionary mentality.

In Mahshahr, a city in southwest Iran where IRGC forces launched a brutal massacre in response to protests in November, resistance units members set fire to an image of regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In Sabzevar, northeast Iran, an image above the entrance of an IRGC paramilitary Basij base was set ablaze.

It is worth noting that any support for the PMOI inside Iran is considered punishable by death by the mullahs’ judiciary. Back in June 2014, Gholamreza Khosravi, an MEK supporter, was arrested and executed merely for sending a small financial donation to a satellite TV network affiliated to the PMOI/MEK. “Gholamreza Khosravi Savadjani was arrested in 2008 in Rafsanjan, Kerman Province, in connection with his alleged support of the pro-PMOI (People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran) TV station Sima-ye Azadi (Voice of Freedom),” according to Amnesty International.
