Time is running out for Iran’s dictators

After the fall of dictatorial regimes, a flood of documents, evidence, and signs emerges, and everyone admits that the overthrow and collapse of that system is the natural outcome of the disorder and chaos they were immersed in. The nature and composition of regimes that spend their time suppressing and committing crimes and sustain themselves by looting and exploiting the capital and wealth of the people, are not suddenly created overnight. Rather, they have a long history, as the religious fascism that rules over Iran has a long-standing background.

Iran at the precipice of class divide

A few days after the sham parliamentary elections in Iran, we witness a deluge of documents and evidence of the stark anger of people by boycotting the regime’s sham election.

As floods ravage Baluchestan and the lack of basic food and healthcare facilities in this region reflects the deliberate humiliation of the deprived, we are also witnessing bankruptcy, collapse, and major crises throughout other sectors of society.

On March 24, Tejarat News website quoted the Statistical Centre of Iran as saying, “In January 2024, red meat had the highest inflation rate of 93 percent among the ten essential food items whose prices were examined. The inflation of basic goods is such that it has led to a decrease in their purchase by citizens and the significant exclusion or reduction of these commodities from the typical monthly shopping basket of most Iranian households.”

On March 2, the state-run Eghtesad 24 news website wrote, “We are approaching a widespread class divide in Iran. Half of Iran’s population is living below the absolute poverty line.”

It is an unprecedented situation that within a span of two years, we have witnessed a drastic collapse of the national currency.

On March 7, Tejarat News website wrote, “Since the beginning of the Raisi government, the price of the US dollar has increased by over 2.5 times. When the thirteenth government took office, the exchange rate was around 270,000 rials per dollar, but now, in the early days of March 2024, the dollar has reached 610,000 rials.”

What is the reason for the decline in participation in elections?

Now that the failure of the sham elections and the disgrace of the regime have become evident, the regime’s agents are analyzing this scandal.

On March 5, Alef news website, wrote, “To find the root causes of the continued decline in electoral participation in recent years, we should not go astray. We should identify the reasons that have caused widespread dissatisfaction and reluctance of society to engage in political action… The main reason for the decline in participation should be attributed to increasing economic disparities, pervasive inflation, the impoverishment of the people, and the economic pressures that have persisted for years, as well as incorrect economic policies and subsequently pessimism towards the country’s political structure in addressing the existing problems.”

Alef added, “The main reason for the continued low participation is the economic pressure on the marginalized and their discontent with the current situation. We must heed the warning signs and understand that if the marginalized and downtrodden are neglected and sidelined, it is at that time that the political system will face a crisis of legitimacy.”

All signs indicate that the people of Iran, along with their Resistance movement and Resistance Units are surely moving toward another revolution. And the regime is running out of maneuvers and time to further delay its inevitable downfall. One clear sign of the fact that the people will no longer return to normalizing the corrupt rule of the mullahs is the immediate resurgence of protests following the elections. Nurses, workers, retirees, government employees, and people of other walks of life are back in the streets, calling out corrupt regime officials and crying out for their rights. As rebellious youths are chanting in every corner of Iran, “It is time for a revolution.”
